As we all knew, it's basically just WWE 13, with a few minor improvements and a Wrestlemania mode taking over from the Attitude Era mode. That's ok, we expected it and we knew what we were getting. I'm enjoying it, although I preferred the continuity of the story of the Attitude Era mode more than just random Wrestlemania matches. Whilst I have watched a tonne of Wrestling and I am aware of many of the stories and feuds, I would have just liked more context, like there is with the Attitude Era mode. It was more fun in WWE 13 replaying famous storylines and feuds as a whole.
Here's hoping next year they really sit down and revamp the engine and look at what made games like Here Comes the Pain, No Mercy and Smackdown vs Raw 2006 good though. I'm tired of this glitchy engine. Gameplay-wise, it isn't bad, but it's kind of embarrassing that so many of the older games did it better. Universe mode also seems stuck in a rut. I think they could vastly improve it with the future games on the next gen systems. Hell, just make it into an awesome Season mode.
Edit: Oh and I forgot to say, some of the historical objectives seem pretty lazy and bland this time round. Maybe it's just me and WWE 13 had some dull ones too I've forgotten about, but seriously, some of them this time are just things like "1. Do your finisher" and "2. Pin your opponent" and it's like, duh, I would do that in every match
Oh and I would have thought the Goldberg v Brock Lesnar match would have had an objective of "avoid locking up with Brock for 6 hours" but it didn't
