Dear sweet Christ this game is an addiction. I play atleast 2 hours everyday and enjoy every second of it. The weird thing is I can't explain what it is I like about the game. It just works. Everything works. Sure it's buggy, and it is very similiar to oblivion, but i'd prefer to say it perfects what oblivion built up. It's just amazing. Any fan of the original care to chime in? I'm intrested to see what a diehard thinks about the changes.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

I rented, but I can't play it because A: The disk is scratched so you can't get passed a critical point about 15 hours into the game and B: My brotherand dad are constantly dominating the living room. :x

Ugh. I'm glad I've managed to avoid playing all those WRPGs for so long. The controls feel too "shonky" after playing the likes of Mass Effect and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (the latter isn't a WRPG but it has strong rpg elements) I wouldn't have minded so much had this been turn-based instead. Nice aesthetics though.

Your disc might not be scratched, The Apprentice.

Bethesda shipped this game in an almost beta state, you should check out the list of problems people are having on the official forums. I got a brand new copy of Fallout 3 and it didn't let me play new games or load old games after a few hours of game time. Completely unscratched, brand new, never left the disc drive.

I thought my disc drive was crapping out on me, but it turns out a noticeable number of people are having the game freeze up and give bad disc errors when they try to play the game again. On a console game, this is completely unacceptable.

If I continue playing this game, I may get it through Gamefly, but ultimately I won't buy it.

Well, since Circuit City was having their going out of business sale, I went ahead and picked this up for a small discount.

My computer barely meets the minimum requirements, so it's not as pretty as it could be. I also don't know why, but for some reason some of the games that interest me the most just don't run on my computer. Half-Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and now Fallout 3, though to be fair, Fallout 3 is easily the most playable of the three(Half-Life 2 dislikes my video card and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. crashes after two minutes of play). Still, I loaded the game and got the SecuROM failure right off the bat, so I had to patch and I can only boot the game from the Start menu. Anything else, and SecuROM freaks out because I have Daemon Tools installed.

So I patched it to the latest version, and I could get maybe 10 to 15 minutes of play. That sucked. So I looked around, and discovered Bethesda had made a few suggestions to make it more stable. First, making sure ffdshow wasn't used in Fallout 3 was their first suggestion. As I'd installed it as part of the CCCPack, I just uninstalled it. Game time jumped from 10-15 minutes of playtime to about 45 minutes-1 hour between problems.

In fact, according to Bethesda the game dislikes specific sound cards, specifically Asus Xsonar, Creative, or Realtek sound cards. The sound card I use is a Realtek, so I'm messing with it to see if it helps. Here's some info I found on the problem: http://www.unigamesity.com/how-to-fix-f ... d-crashes/

Hopefully this'll help some of us out.
