I can't comment on Xenoblade as I am unfamiliar with the franchise. I'm not an rpg fan.
That Gamestop
R stamp is placed by their Refurbish Center after a used game has been inspected and the disc polished. I have yet to see real proof that either game got a reprint from the manufacturer. However, I think your are right with the Metroid Trilogy plastic cases, either new white cases or crisp clean cases robbed from their stacks of used Wii games at the Refurbish Center. As for the Metroid new covers, Gamestop has printed new covers in the past such as the Best Sellers Covers, just not printed at the local store level.
Just verified the Gamestop site, the games are still $69.99 and $59.99
As for the price reduction, probably their sales of the used refurbished Xeonloblade and Metroid Trilogy did not go as well as expected. Gamestop has to clear the shelves for the WiiU games and other new consoles coming out.
@ sam - I would jump on that Metroid Tin if it is CIB including the outer liner. If you have a good raport with a few of the employees, they might let you refund/repurchase a few times to keep in the seven day refund policy until the price does actually drop..
