What are my NES games really worth? HELP!
Re: What are my NES games really worth? HELP!
If you do some digging, you can find that stuff out. For instance, there were four prints of FF7. Some are considered to be collectible because they had a shorter run of prints.

Some of that stuff you can find out via digging, yes, but those sorts of things are generally outliers and exceptions I find. There's so much more we really don't know at all.Luke wrote:If you do some digging, you can find that stuff out. For instance, there were four prints of FF7. If this kind of info was more widely available, I think it'd help the community out a lot.
I wonder if Nintendo has any records they could access for how many carts of each NES game were produced? After all, they (and Acclaim later on) handled the production for every licensed game themselves.
Even if they do though, would that kind of info actually be available to the public?
It's kinda fascinating actually.

The less information available...the rarer it is
or not
People don't like to use ebay - but it really is the best guage to find out how many of something actually exist...or at least exist and are available.
We can use the Earthbound example...people like to say it is rare. Well, how many copies are readily available, both loose and CIB on ebay and the forums at this moment?
Now look at Super Turrican 2 - how many copies loose and complete are available?
You could say your unscientific research suggests Super Turrican 2 is 900% rarer than Earthbound, and you'd probably be pretty close. But to your point, does that mean there are 900,000 copies of EB and 100,000 of ST2? Or does it mean there are 90,000 copies of EB and 1,000 of ST2? That's the part we don't know...
How many boxes are there of Sculptors Cut? Did every blockbuster in US/CAN get one? Did some get 2 or 3? There could be 1,000 of 'em out there, 5,000, or maybe less than 100...really not possible to track down each "rare" game unless someone(s) want to do a load of research AND get help from the multi-nationals.
