Yeah, I predicted this when t-shirts were first bought up. I think selling ten t-shirts would be a reasonable goal.
Still, the poll has over two weeks to run. We'll see what happens then.
Luke wrote:Just having the logo isn't a bad idea, but I still wouldn't purchase one.
I've already thought about taking off the year. The reason being, there's a minimum order for the shirts. If the demand doesn't turn out to be enough for the supply, then I could still get the shirts and use half this year and save the others for next year. That wouldn't work if the year is on it, of course.
Luke wrote:I wouldn't be as concerned about shirt size as much as I would be about shirt design. T-shirts are a dime a dozen, so make one that stands out. For example, you could compile the signatures of the participants, throw that on the back of the shirt, and have the RacketBoy logo on the front. Or you can take an iconic game cover and give it a RacketBoy theme.
The problem is that the more complex the design is the more expensive it is to make the shirts. That's the sole reason why the design was kept simple. Solid color shirt. One ink color.

I would like to, yes. I'm thinking about doing Star Fox 2. It's cheap to make, and doesn't take too much time. It'll have the same custom labels in line with previous years, but I'm not planning on doing a colored cart shell. It'll just be a regular grey SNES cart.

What I really wanted to do was reach out to Aeon Genesis (the group that made the translation and bug fix patch for Star Fox 2) and see if they'd be interested in creating a custom title screen for the charity auction. But I never got around to it, and I don't wanna ask them with a 2 month deadline. I was thinking about emailing them early next year and seeing if they'd do it for another game.

:D : So the poll has only been up a day, and will still run for a little over two weeks, and it's already looking like their will be enough demand to get the shirts made. Yay!

:( : No one has offered to chip in yet. People, I can't pay for these shirts by myself! I need help. I'm willing to pay as much as I can, so the amount that each individual person would have to chip in would be minimal (perhaps just a few bucks per person if enough people offer to chip in). If no one chips in, then I cannot get the shirts. Plain and simple. And remember, this is all for charity. Consider that the money you chip in will go towards a donation.

Well I voted my interest in a large.

Also Ziggy, I'm willing to help out with the cost of the shirts.

I guess I am confused on why you would have to pay up front.

1) gauge interest (ensure that there's a critical mass committed to bidding) - what you are doing now
2) list shirts in the auction with the minimum bid starting at expected cost
3) after the auction, the base costs go to you to order the shirts
4) you order the shirts
5) all money bid over base costs = profit for charity

am I missing something?

I guess I could do it that way. But I'm ordering the shirts NOW, before the auction. My main hang up with doing it the way you suggest would be putting items in the auction that don't actually exist. Bad case scenario, people win the auction, pay, something unforeseen happens and there's no shirts. People have to get refunded, people get mad, it's a whole to-do. I never like doing things that way. I wanna have the shirts in my possession in time to put them in the auction. I wanna be able to ship them out right away, not a month after. I want to have nice clear pics of how nice they look to entice people to bid on them. Not a cartoon mockup.

Also, I wanna pay for the shirts and donate them. If the money comes out of the bids to pay for them, then that's less money that goes to the charity. If they're paid in full already, then 100% goes to the charity.

Doing it the way I want to, I just see it as the best way to do it.

Awesome, thanks!

BTW, in the other thread you asked me about doing a Genesis repro. I just remembered something I was trying to do. I wanted to make a Sonic 3 & Knuckles cart. It would be a regular size Genesis cart with the full S3&K game and save memory. I had trouble getting it to work and forgot about it until now. I definitely wont have time to try and getting it working for this year, but perhaps I can look into it again and get it working for next year.

Ok, that all makes a bit more sense now. Sounds like a plan!

*thumbs up* :D

Also, I like the combined S3&K idea, very slick. Some unique artwork for the label (I mean as opposed to reusing the original art in some way) would be nice too, if possible.

If you are able to make it for next year, I'll buy it!

What the shirt would look like with just the RB logo:

Not counting the two undecided and one definitely not votes, there's 13 people wanting shirts so far. We're off to a good start, but we're still gonna need more demand. Luckily, there's still two full weeks for the poll to run, and I doubt every one has seen this thread yet. It's looking good.
