Nintendo Announces 2DS....thoughts?

Yeah, I actually don't recommend it for most people. Losing the clam design is unfortunate and I think the original design is still preferable, myself.

But hey, it's cheaper and plays well enough.

However, I just fired up my XL for some Ocarina of Time and I'm definitely glad I have both.
3D + big screen = more immersive experience.
2DS is mostly for casual gameplay, and possibly for some strategy games that I don't want the temptation of 3D to distract me.

I was planning on getting one.. But I found a used 3DSXL for $20 more at a Play N Trade. It's looked and worked perfectly so I had to go XL or go home.

And it actually fits in your pocket, it wasn't as big as I though it would be.

Got my 2DS today (changed my preorder of the Red and got a Blue one instead). It does have a nice feel to it... I like.

Could you describe the fit? Ever since the GBA SP came out, Nintendo's handhelds have had such a slim profile that I can never hold them comfortably. I like the grip that their older handhelds like the Gameboy and original GBA had.

Would you describe the grip as being bulky like the old handhelds or is it slender like the more recent designs?

It does have a slender feel; you'd likely be disappointed. In a way, it's like a tablet with controller buttons.

Actually, I'm hoping for a 2DS Nerf Armor to enhance the feel of my system. They've made a Nerf shell for all the other DS models, so I think it's only a matter of time, especially since it doesn't come with a cover or anything.
If it comes about, that should work as a viable solution for you. In the meantime, wait and see.

As it stands, the 2D is a poor man's (or kid's) option for 3DS gaming.

Oooh, forgot to mention:
The 2DS comes with a 4GB SD card, which is a nice bonus. Just thought people might want to know.
