Original Gameboy Advance imo, now only if it had a Backlight, it would of been the perfect gameboy for me!

I also 2nd the Silver Gameboy Pocket, as i have one, would love a frontlit one.

I can't pick just one, since I think the vanilla GBA is the most comfortable in the hands but it has a really dark screen. The GBA SP addresses this problem and even includes a clamshell design, but my hands feel a bit cramped while using it. Granted, it is primarily for kids and not fat men with hands made for strangling badgers. :P

I guess that's why I like the DS and 3DS designs so much. I get the clamshell, a backlight, and a wide body.

This.

I prefer the buttons on the left/right of the screen rather than under.

The original GBA, NGPC, and WonderSwan Color are my three favorite handheld designs. Too bad none of those had a backlight.

And the modded ones are damn overpriced. As well as the fact that the colors bleed when the black light is added.

The original GBA just made me wish Nintendo would release shoulder button add ons for the DS line to make them as comfortable :'(.

(though the original DS has very comfortable buttons too I guess)

GBA has extremely comfortable form factor, GBA SP is clam-shell and has back-lit screen which are two huge advantages though. I have a GBA, played with the SP but it is indeed a bit too small and the shoulder buttons are not nearly as good.

The DS lite (while it isn't a Gameboy, one can play GBA games on it) would probably be my choice as better than both (not a Gameboy to be chosen in this thread though), combining advantages of the SP with a more comfortable shape, although the GBA is still more comfortable (particularly on the shoulder buttons). And the normal GBA carts stick out at the bottom.

I keep wanting to buy another DS Lite to future proof myself a bit. My Crimson Black one eventually got the broken hinge issue (still works well other than that), and I still have many GBA games to play that I'm not sure if I should jump to a 3DS already.

I love everything about the SP besides the fact that it doesn't have an audio port for headphones.

SP is the best design by a decent margin.
