Some people in the U.S. would have some pretty large issues with that, yankee has a different meaning here.

I don't think I've seen those two words used together like that ever in my life. That just sounds redundant.

It wouldn't be a civil war, at least not in my eyes. The EU seems more like a club or an alliance than one nation with states. I mean, if Germany or Britain wanted to leave they could do so with ease. If Wisconsin tried to leave the US it wouldn't go through. If (when) there's another war in Europe I think the EU will dissolve first, or dissolve as a result of the war.

That's what they're trying to accomplish, turn Europe into a federation. Which is completely idiotic, considering that it consists of nations rather than states. It won't be a civil war, unless they succeed in that plan.

I'm not European so my opinion is this doesn't count for much, but I'd prefer the EU not turn into a federation. I feel like all the unique cultures would end up becoming watered down and eventually form a new overall culture, the same way the US has turned several cultures into one.

That's how most of Europe feels, save for the elite sitting at Brussels

There's probably plenty of reasons to oppose a European federation (I really wouldn't know), but I think this concern is largely unfounded.

The US wasn't a bunch of independent states with unique cultures that decided to join together, it was entirely founded by immigrants who brought elements of their own culture in.

Plus, you don't have to look far in various other countries to find examples of multiple unique cultures.
