Gamer difficulty, like the hidden "Arcade" difficulty on Gradius III, is a step above Hard. You need 2 controllers to get it. On the options screen, highlight on Difficulty, then press and hold down A and X on controller 2. As the buttons are held down, on controller 1 move the difficulty past Hard and Gamer should appear.

Maximum Carnage also had a red cartridge. As a beat em up, it's not bad. You could do probably worse on the SNES.
(*cough* Super Double Dragon *cough*)

Hrmm...I'm not too keen on playing difficulties that I effectively have to enter a cheat code to access. It's cool and all, but I'm iffy on it.

And what about Killer Instinct, with its sleek, black cartridge? I love that I can immediately pick it out of a collection.

Maximum Carnage isn't just "not bad", it's one of the coolest beat-em ups on the system, but tough-as-nails.

Yeah, just all the supporting characters are amazing enough. I always had the worst time getting out of the Fantastic Four lab, that robot boss always beat me. The only way I could even consider damaging it was Venom's "web-swing" move.

Easy way to beat him:

Cling to the wall, stay just above his head so he can't knock you down, but not too high.

Jump kick directly off the wall, and immediately hold up again. If you're quick, you'll get in a hit and stick to the wall again, where you can climb back up and out of his way.

Takes a while, but it works like a charm for both Spider-man and Venom, and you'll conserve your lives for the much tougher bosses later on.

After like 40 minutes you beat him with that technique. And I only did it like once. Even though the game is great, otherwise, that had to be like the worst designed boss-battle of all-time.

I still remember buying Star Fox brand new back in the day, heading to my friend Trent's house, and then beating it on my first play through....

Never liked Star Fox too much.

As a kid I remember loathing the graphics. I understand how technologically advanced they were for the time but I still think they look atrocious.

I never cared for the look of games like Out of This World either.

Anyway, I picked up Star Fox 64 the other week and I gotta say I enjoy it much better than the SNES game.
