Case in point. My In-laws are somewhat gamers. They usually buy decent gaming PCs, they own a Wii and an XB360. In the past they have given me an N64 complete with just about every good game on the system (M64, LoZ OoT & MM, etc) and so on.
Well, earlier this year they upgraded their PCs and gave me one of their old Dell XPS'. It is a Core2 Quad, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, and a standalone Radeon GPU (don't know the model or specs). Now, seeing that I'm a huge PC gamer and my PC is actually better than that, I decided to just put it in a closet until I found a use for it. Well, a good friend of mine needed a new PC because his bit the dust and couldn't afford a new one at the time. He asked if I had any parts I could lend or give him to rebuild the one he had. So, I told him he could use the one I have in my closet until he can afford a new one.
Now, he specifically said something along the lines of "are you sure? You know it may be a while before I can afford a new one. So, I may keep it quite a while." I assured him it was ok.
Well, now I'm seriously in the mood to build an awesome Hyperspin retro PC for my TV setup and now I completely regret letting him use it. He knows I want it back at some point, but I don't want to take it back for that kind of reason.
I have a history of this kind of activity. I give stuff to people and then at some point I regret giving it away. You would assume that I would learn my lesson, but I would feel terrible knowing my friend is doing without something like a PC when I have one collecting dust in a closet.
I don't know....
