I don't really ever feel like the common denominator platform of the generation is all that special.
I like the Wii a lot,

Staying up into the wee hours of the morning to crack a case in Phoenix Wright, playing Harvest Moon DS until the save battery broke, driving myself to madness to beat that last stage of Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! on the highest difficulty setting, having my mind blown that I could actually play online games against other people across the world (On a handheld system, no less), giving myself a serious mental workout trying to beat Professor Layton, and challenging my friend to see who could be the first to get all the stars in Super Mario 64 DS. It's a system full of memories, and the first system to convince me that handhelds were capable of providing similar experiences as home consoles.

If I remember correctly you are also pretty young right? Like 17? So when the DS came out you were 8? So you probably grew up with it. It will always be in your heart then. We just can never think bad of the systems we grew up with.
....and now that I think about it, it's amazing how many children probably grew up with the PS2 and DS, because of their very long lifetime. Us 80/90s kids didn't have this luxury since most console cycles didn't last more than 5 years....with the exception of the gameboy I guess. That's probably why it was such common part of everyone's childhood. The only handheld out there that lasted a decade. (Till the DS)
