Why should you buy the PS4?

As John said, I think it has to do with tone. There are smart and reasonable ways to critique both modern and retro gaming, and there are knee-jerk, emotional, blathering ways to do so as well. I think we've always "eviscerated" people who favor the latter approach, regardless of the subject.

I stated it before and I will state it again. People can be as abrasive with their opinions as they want, but if they start attacking other people because of their opinions, then it is a problem. I am down with any opinions people state.

I am accepting of all generations, formats and controllers as well as the people who prefer one over the other!

If you exclusively like "retro" than good for you. Everyone is allowed their opinion and to me a gamer is a gamer. I like to think in the 'one for all - all for one' mentality about the community. I do agree w/ the other members about the attitude in the post it self being a big part of how people react.

Anyways, back on topic. Why are you guys buying the PS4?

And now back in the real world, gaming rules whether it's retro or current. There's something out there for everyone. If you think modern games systems suck, you aren't looking hard enough. Edit: Or more likely, you're too cheap to pay for it so just pretend it sucks.

Well you try not having any money you can blow on something as silly as a game console when you can't even pay to go to the doctor. I'm not cheap, i'm being realistic...I don't have that kind of money but that doesn't change the fact that I think the PS4 is shit. It's less shitty then the Wii U of course since Sony stuff is fairly good (and no fucking motion controls damn it). But it's still not on my top 100 things I need to buy. If I have to get new games, it's going to be on the PC now...I just don't feel like buying a console and limiting myself to it's games. A lot of games (not all games) come out on all consoles true but then theres emu's on the PC for single console releases. I'd rather save my money and buy old games or games for the PC.

I just like to think differently then all the other sheep in this world.

A few years ago my mom said something along the same lines to me when I decided I was going to love a man who was "way to old for me"...a few years before that my parents said I was going to "grow out" of my depression....I still have depression and I still love my BF. I never said I hate modern GAMES I said I hate modern gen as in the CONSOLES. I'm a modern gamer, I mean I play Skyrim and L4D2..I still play PS3 games as well.

Yep...so far it's happened 2-3 times to me because I hate the new gen consoles. I bet if I said I hate the Genesis people wouldn't flip out as much. Because it's accepted that people hate the Genesis, just like when people hate the NES/SNES...you know the whole Nintendo VS Sega deal.

I don't actually "hate" it...I strongly dislike it because I think Mario games are better then the Sonic games, the SNES has better sound and so on and so forth..grew up on an NES so of course I dislike it lol.

And again maybe I should bold this...I DO NOT HATE MODERN GAMES I hate the consoles.

You arent getting attacked or berated for not liking them. You are not even qualifying why you dislike or hate modern consoles. You give mostly uninformed reasons or none at all for many of your 'I hate X' posts.

Why do you hate the PS4 besides it "being shit"?

There is much more to the Genesis besides liking Mario over Sonic. I dont like either really, but I still like both systems. They have much more to offer than their flagship platformer mascot.

People respect at least well reasoned arguments and posts. Simply spouting I hate this and this is shit and blah blah without even giving any reasons will of course either rub people the wrong way or just dismiss your opinions or posts outright.

I hate the Wii/Wii U because it's motion control based. If you could use the Gamecube controler for more Wii game's I would like it a lot more.

I hate the Wii U because it's a freaking tablet, i'd rather get a iPad if I was going to go the way of tablets.

Xbox....I hate microsoft in general...Xbox isn't anything good. I can't explain this much better then saying it's a meh console. I mean PS2/PS3 has a good game library...Xbox? Not so from what I can see. I mean there are some ok games just for the Xbox but it doesn't have the amazing library of games that the PS2 had. And don't get me started on the Xbox 360...just two words, red ring.

The PS4? PS3 but more expensive. Maybe in x amount of years when they come out with PS5 or whatever I'll buy it used for 50 bucks. Because that's all I'd be willing to spend on it.

I just mentioned the Nintendo VS Sega thing as an example...I didn't really list all the things...but liking Mario over Sonic is a good point I think, both are different games...both are...good games I suppose. But I like Mario games more because early Sonic games were just to fast pased for me...still are.

Is that good enough or do I have to defend myself some more for everyone on here to be happy?

You don't have to defend yourself. But when you make broad sweeping generalizations, expect rebuttal.

The PS4 isn't a PS3 but more expensive. By that logic the SNES was just a more expensive NES. So that doesn't explain anything at all as why the PS4 is shit.

The Wii U is much more than a tablet as well. Saying you will get an Ipad instead doesnt have any relation to what a Wii U can offer. For one, and a big thing, the Wii U controller has buttons and sticks.

I also don't have to like every game from a system to like the system. I generally dislike motion controls as well and dislike the Wii shovelware games. However, I can easily appreciate at least 20-30 games on the Wii that doesn't require motion.

And I am not really a fanboy or defending any of these consoles. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and they will be different than others, but the logic you use for these arguments just doesn't stack up.
