Ebay/Amazon Hall of Shame
Re: Ebay/Amazon Hall of Shame
I try to avoid buying international at all means. Returns are a bitch, shipping takes forever, and the risk is high. The only time i'd consider buying outside of the US and Canada is if its a completely insane deal.

I've bought tons of crap from overseas and never had any problems.
Some stuff you straight up can't get unless you're willing to buy from outside the US.

Eh...I mean if they have good ratings and I pay the extra bit to insure it...I might get something from over there again. But I think I'd stick to Canada/England for the most part...if I can't get it here of course lol.oxymoron wrote:I try to avoid buying international at all means. Exactly...I suppose it depends on what the item is as well. Things that can't break for instance (manga/books even DVD's if packaged well and come in a boxed set for extra protection) I wouldn't mind buying overseas.AppleQueso wrote:I've bought tons of crap from overseas and never had any problems.![]()

I do think I'll be more careful with games though now.

Bought a game and paid 07-01-13. Item wasn't marked shipped until 07-18 without so much as a 'sorry got delayed' or anything. They'd already gotten feedback for items sold after my item was paid for. After sending a message asking what happened, I got a reply they got "mixed up and didn't ship as quickly as normally" and they offered that I could pick one of their cheap games for free as an apology, but obviously if I hadn't spoken up it would have just been swept under the rug. I did get my game I had originally purchased, but never got my apology game.

Re: Ebay/Amazon Hall of Shame
Buying form Japan is always a crapshoot but there are some really great sellers that I've always had fantastic experiences with.
Most Japanese sellers worth their salt will send their packages via ePacket that requires a signature upon delivery. It's as much to protect themselves as it is the buyer because it provides evidence of whether or not you received the item.
I am usually willing to pay a few bucks more for an import if it's a US seller though because I have had games get lost on their way over from Japan at least twice.
One of which I suspect was the fault of the seller, Akihabara Games on Amazon. My game spent a week with the "Not Yet Shipped" status. I asked them what was up and they told me my item already shipped. Then a week later the status finally changed to shipped. This seemed like a bit of a red flag since either the seller or Amazon was lying to me about its shipment status but I was still hopeful everything was fine at this point.
I had a few other games from other sellers ordered from Japan at the time and received all of them. After the estimated delivery period passed I asked what was up and they told me to confirm my address. I did so and after that they stopped replying to me so I had to go to Amazon for my money back.

You guys have had that many issues with Japanese sellers? I've yet to have a single issue with Japanese sellers. Even when they list items as 'acceptable' they are usually near pristine condition. When a US seller lists something as 'like new' it's often a beat up POS and missing contents.

For me no, except for just one seller, hit-japan. All the others I've had zero problems with.ZenErik wrote:You guys have had that many issues with Japanese sellers? I've bought a good amount of stuff from hit-japan: PC Engine Duo, Neo Geo AES, WonderSwan Color, and several Super Famicom, PC Engine, and Saturn games. Everything arrived safely and in great shape. Sorry you had a bad experience with him o.pwuaioc - I'm hoping that what happened to you was more of a fluke than the norm.
(btw hit-japan and Game of Japan are run by the same dude)

Re: Ebay/Amazon Hall of Shame
estocks or Zooverstocks (think they are the same) is either great or shite.
Examples in favour: CIB version of F-zero GP Legend for a less than a fiver when the listing stated it as cart only, a excellent copy of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness for xbox for a third of the price of the nearest listing and several other xbox games in near original condition for 1 penny.
Example against: Two copies of Kinghts of the Old 2 ordered, one never came, one had a Knights of the Old 1 disc inside. Gunvalkyrie stated as being complete but had no manual and a couple of things that never turned up.
The good thing about them is they will give a refund without asking for the item back most times. So I bought Knights 2 from steam and put the case in with my xbox games
.
I can't shame anyone specifically but I have been merked twice on game boy advance games on ebay. Always put the code on the front label of the cart into google is my advice.

Re: Ebay/Amazon Hall of Shame
I bought a relatively expensive PC Engine Duo console (over 200 dollars with shipping IIRC) from them that's not properly functional... but from what I recall, most of the time I've bought games from them, there haven't been any problems.GirlGamer55 wrote:Wow I thought it was just me that got f'ed by them...wonder how their still on ebay -_-o.pwuaioc wrote:Avoid ebay seller hit-japan: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 31#p735031
Not so much here, but other forums have also commented about how shitty he (she? they?) can be when problems arise, such as here.
