Not surprised at the level of service you received from Amazon. They'll literally bend over backwards to help the customer, at least from my experiences. They have been very good to me on the non-game side of things. I've also gotten a few games from their sellers before, and no problems. Even a seller noticed that a game case on a GC game (complete) I got had some burn marks on it and replaced it with a new official case free of charge before shipping it out.

Yeah, that was basically what I was implying. :P I think a lot of sellers just prefer to roll the dice.
if you are selling a ton of stuff on amazon, sometimes it's more economical to roll the dice. i try really hard to clean and test everything i list on there, but there have been times when i don't test a game if it looks like it's in good condition (disc surfaces/cart pins/etc). the real problem with this seller is that he didn't do anything to take care of the problem. lots of brick and mortar stores take chances with stuff, they don't test every cart/disc that comes into them, but they take care of you if there's a problem with the game. i've had some sales where people have wanted to return games because they couldn't get them to work, and i've always honored the return and refunded their money. communication is key, i think.

I generally only buy from Amazon Marketplace sellers if they describe their items well and the better ones do. But yes, if there's a crazy deal on something with little description I'll certainly roll the dice.

But really it's not much of a risk. Amazon's customer service is great so your chance of being screwed is practically nil.

I'm not afraid of getting screwed. It's just that Ebay almost always trumps Amazon in the price department. Also, and this is for me personally but my mom doesn't like using her card directly into websites. So whenever I want to use amazon I have to walk 2 blocks to my local Stater Bros which isn't difficult but not necessarily pleasant. They'd get my business for often if the accepted Paypal. I have dealt with both Amazon and Ebay customer service and prefer Ebay because I don't have to deal w/ the whole "Fulfillment" thing.

People in Japan usually rate items a lot better then Americans. They really won't describe things as Mint unless they're unopened and perfect. Stuff often described as good still looks like it was never touched most of the time. Acceptable usually means a little big of age and use wear, but still pretty good. They tend to use 'junk' for beat stuff that works but might have a fair number of tears/stains/some surface rust or for untested stuff. A loose cart looking like that in Japan probably would have been 500 Yen 'junk'.

Shitty seller, but glad you're getting somewhere.

I get stuff from Yahoo Auctions Japan on a weekly basis and i can vouch for this. Some people describe conditions down to the last spec of dust. The packaging is always impeccable and they sometimes include a hand-written thank you card.

I buy alot of stuff from Rancor from shmups.com and he always throws bonus stuff in there like Japanese kitkats, little gundamn capsule toys, Hentai and the packaging is always amazing, super nice to deal with. I remember when i first bought from him I bought a copy of Batsugun on the saturn for like $70 and i used just regular airmail, waited a month and it didn't arrive so I contacted him and he said if it doesn't arrive he would send another one! Fortunately the next day it showed up in my mailbox, seems like sometimes things get caught up in customs. Airmail is so all over the map in shipping times, sometimes it's less than a week others its over a month.
