Re: Nintendo Announces 2DS....thoughts?
I really like how my standard 3DS feels, although I couldn't stand the DS Lite. I'm getting more and more curious about the 2DS. Maybe it will feel great.

It would be awesome if Nintendo included classic Gameboy games pre-loaded! But I think nah.GSZX1337 wrote:I am such a whore that I would totally buy that.Cronozilla wrote:

I think they could make a lot of money if they started making Mario, Zelda, or Kirby variants and selling them with GB/GBC games preinstalled.

I kind of like the design. What I don't like about XL is too large screens for small device I hold near my face and play small-ish games with. But even more so the problem is the PPI, which gets really bad on XL. It's also bit too heavy. Everything else is more or less good. OG 3DS lacks anti-glare and is generally wonky design as far as controls and comfort goes.
If the 2DS has anti-glare, I will be very much interested. The increased area for palms is going to do wonder for comfort, there's also room to keep fingers more straight upwards. Your thumbs are almost at center of upper screen and palms are roughly at center of lower screen. There's less space between the screens, compared to the other two designs. The should buttons look comfy, no awkward angles and sharp corners. I'm not sure what the idea of the sloping is, is that purely for visibility when placed on table? Reduced portability is not much of a problem in my eyes, because I haven't once pocketed either the OG or XL 3DS, I find these things backpack affair either way.
So I would imagine the actual gaming experience is going to be pretty sweet, regardless of the unappealing looks of the device. Naming is once again confusing for the customer, but kinda unavoidable evil considering the stripping of 3D.

I don't think it looks that bad, and for the target audience I think this is a good design and price-point. I'll have to let my Dad know so he can pick these up as gifts for my little brothers. Keep in mind there are 5 of them at my dad's and things tend to break on a regular basis.

Thinking of buying one to gift to younger kids too, so maybe Nintendo knows what it's doing?

So I take it there'll now be a new iteration of the above?

Re: Nintendo Announces 2DS....thoughts?
Yep! Unless they just don't offer one because the 2DS is the 'budget model'.

Okay...that kinda made me like it.Cronozilla wrote:
Also, it wouldn't look as bad if the color schemes were different. Someone tossed up a GameBoy style mockup and it looked pretty awesome.
Re: Nintendo Announces 2DS....thoughts?
Doubtful, support for that thing is practically nonexistent so it's not worth it.Thierry Henry wrote:
