After reading so many of them, I also felt the same way you do, until I read that one book I linked you to. It's no ordinary self help book.

Definitely something that always existed. I was always behind the tech curve anyway. I got a NES Christmas of '90, got a Super Nintendo about the time Chrono Trigger came out, got a PSX by the time FFVII had gone Greatest Hits and systems had dropped to $100, and so on.

I had a very limited selection of games as a kid, but I was pretty discerning, especially with quite a few trusty Nintendo Powers at my side. Of course, that always meant I had a running backlog of games I eventually wanted to try out.

So about the time I hit college, I got my first PC, and emulation was really starting to take off. The best thing going was VGB-DOS, but that was about the time Nesticle came out as well. Needless to say, all those games I had missed out on were getting tried.

Of course, that's never enough. I still pick up good carts when the prices are reasonable, and I went on a eBay run to re-obtain the games I had traded away as a kid. So while my current library isn't super-impressive, it's still over 200 games strong on the NES side! I'm proudest of my complete copy of Dragon Warrior IV. :D

I still play modern games, but I gravitate to the old-school, unquestionably. And when games tap both into the modern and the retro, it's a good day all the way around.

Welcome to the Forum. Getting reasonable prices is becoming more and more difficult. :(

Welcome to my world...try living in/near a big techy city like Seattle. Christ the prices people want for stuff is really stupid. I mean we have Nintendo HQ in our backyard ffs but people still want top dollar for their "RARE" game. Yeah...rare is it? Well go shove that rare game up your :x

I get mad when these jerks charge ebay prices at yard sales or flea markets and craigslist as well. But the worst is the resellers. I remember I had one last time I went to the swap meet. Didn't look like a reseller...had two little boys with him and they had some GC games...I was interested (my GC collection is...tiny). I can't remember what games they had...some good ones I know that. The guy was really pushy, trying to get me to buy all the games, even the ones I had no interest in and said I wasn't interested in. Then his kids started pushing them on me as well. I only had like 10 bucks or so in my pocket so I picked up a game I was most interested in and asked how much, the guy said something like 30 bucks...freaking ebay prices. I tryed to talk him down...the guy wouldn't budge, said it was a "rare" game, that good GC games go for that much. Well I had just snagged Super Monkey Ball and a Zelda game (forget the name) for 5 bucks each. So I pulled them out and held them up and said that I payed 10 for both of these games which were worth way more then his. He still wouldn't back down so I just left without saying a word...ass.

*end rant*

Anyways speaking of emulation...I know Project 64 is pretty good for N64 (i'v used it before and liked it) but what's a good program for SNES? Love to play Earthbound for once and see what all the fuss and overpricing is about lol.

Try living in Europe lol. Or South America, they have it a lot worse from what I've heard. You're often stuck with importing from USA, which means eBay prices (usually the cheapest auctions never ship outside the US, so you gotta buy the overpriced ones)+10-29 dollar shipping and possibly paying an import tariff. Which is still usually cheaper than buying a PAL version of the same game, if one even exists.

I use ZNES for SNES emulation
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Seattle sounds pretty bad but think of all the hipsters I have to put with here in LA. Damn idiots don't know Mario from Zelda. I once saw this chick (hipster) selling regualr old Contra with a case for, guess what, $75!!!!!!!!! Her excuse? "It's hard to find in this condition". *face palm* :x

I don't know just because you found some games cheaper elsewhere doesn't mean he has to sell his game cheap to you as well. Do you remember what game it was?

No point in getting mad at people who charge too much. Everyone wants to get the most out of their things when selling. I just roll my eyes or move along if something is too high for my liking, but anger isn't a response.
