So who heard Kendrick Lamar's verse on Control? The rap world is in a buzz about it!

If you haven't, it's right here.

This is some of the stuff he said
I'm Makaveli's offspring, I'm the king of New York
King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both
Yes, a Compton rapper called himself the king of NY
Bout who's the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of y'all
New niggas just new niggas, don't get involved
I'm usually homeboys with the same niggas I'm rhymin' wit
But this is hip hop and them niggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you niggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas
I like what he's doing here. He's challenging a bunch of rapper and its going to bring lots of competition. Theres already a few "disses". I put that in quotations because it's not like beef disses, but more like competition disses.

I think this is great for Hip Hop, competition like this separates the men from the boys. Can't wait to watch it unfold

yeah it's awesome. Anyone who takes it as a diss is missing the point. If he said your name, it's cuz you're on top. It's almost a who's who of relevant MC's right now. And he's saying "I'm trying to protect the throne," y'know? It's awesome. Competition is amazing motivation in hip hop. I think every MC should aim to be the best.

I get his point, but that track is something dumb whack (not to be confused with "stupid whack"). It's a song about not name dropping, that does nothing but name drop. And yes, I get it. But at almost 8minutes long with about one minute of decent rhyming...no thanks.

"If Phil Jackson came back he couldn't coach me. I'm uncoachable, unsocialble"...Really? Is he saying he is the Kobe Bryant of rap, or just spitting out nonsense? If the former,

I don't see why you changed what I said to general media without even clarifying.

The rap world definitely is in a buzz about it. There have been several response tracks made about it and tons of rappers are responding on twitter.

Unless I misunderstood what you said??

Social media responses don't count for shit. When rappers respond vis tweet... man, they're killing hip hop.

Back in the 90's and early 00's when someone would get dissed it was straight to the live booth with Big Tigga on BET.

This isn't like Tupac telling Biggie "I f***ed your wife", this is on CNN and hufpo.

Again, I get his point at trying to make money and stir controversy, but to me it comes off really weak on a weak single.

If you got dissed you'd post about it in the Ticked thread Luke.

So they're killing hip hop by letting their voice be heard by every rapper and millions of fans? When you have a place where you can voice your opinions that easily, why ignore it? It isn't killing hip hop, its quickly responding and letting everyone know what they think.

You're treating this like two rappers are beefing. This is where you're wrong. They aren't trying to go back and forth and attack each other, they are trying to make good quality response tracks. This is competition, not beef.

It's not like nobody is making responses, everybody is making response tracks. Many rappers already have, while others are making them currently.

Lupe Response:

If you're a rap fan, I don't see why you don't like this. Competition brings out the best in everyone, and its great to see how everyone responds.

Couldn't agree more. Hell, competition even landed Canibus a decent single.

But let us not confuse name dropping for straight up calling out everyone. This isn't Protect ya Neck or Mama Said Knock You Out. This is name dropping on what is most likely a "I never ever met you or battled you, but I'd like to bank on your fame" shit. Good for him, he got his responses. But until he responds to people who respond to him, on an album or in person, it's all ticky tack to me.

Like it or lump it; I'll give a squat when Nas tears him a new one and he actually has to respond.

Then, I'll be impressed. As of now to me this is like Miley Cyrus calling out other pop stars.
