My wife and I drink nice local beers from good North Carolina breweries (i.e., Birdsong, Triple C, Lonerider, Carolina Brew Co., and the aforementioned Duck Rabbit). We also drink a lot of other craft beers, and we buy almost all of our beer from The Common Market, which is thankfully within easy walking distance from our home.
If we go out for tacos, we drink Corona or Tecate. Upper class people in Charlotte with no taste drink Miller Lite (*barf!*), and the hipsters in our neighborhood drink PBR (i.e., my personal favorite cheap beer). When I was in college, I drank The Beast almost exclusively (because it was "free"!).
What beer does "everyone" drink where you live?

Tecate = Mexican Brewed Lonestarflojocabron wrote:
Hellboy and people south of the border like Tecate.
Honestly, its not exactly the same, but they are pretty dang close. And come on, what says I live near the border more than a beer with a Texas star and a beer with an Eagle? Nothing else.

Blowing Rock brewery is located in New York, so watch out for that one.prfsnl_gmr wrote:My wife and I drink nice local beers from good North Carolina breweries...
Both Lenoir and Boone pump out some delicious stuff; you may want to check them out during a weekend. I've yet to try Red Oak, but they have a sturdy reputation.

Nothing special. Budweiser and Bud Light is what I see around here the most.

Agreed. That part of the state is great for beer. Also, Oskar Blues - a Colorado brewer - has a brewery in Brevard. Their beer is fantastic, and since they brew it nearby, I consider it at least semi-local. You should give it a shot if you get the chance. (Dale's Pale Ale and Mama's Little Yella Pils are my favorites.)Luke wrote:Both Lenoir and Boone pump out some delicious stuff; you may want to check them out during a weekend.
Red Oak was everywhere when I lived in Winston-Salem. It is...pretty good. I would not go too far out of your way for it. IMO, Natty Greene's brews the best beer in that part of the state, but their beers give my wife a severe headache; so, I don't have them too often. (SweetWater beers have the same effect on her...she speculates that she has some sort of allergic reaction to the hops...)Luke wrote:I've yet to try Red Oak, but they have a sturdy reputation.

For some reason SNPA always gives me a headache the next morning, even after one. Or two. Okay, may after three.prfsnl_gmr wrote:severe headache
It isn't the "High Gravity", at least I don't think. There's just something about it that gives my head a ringing.

It must be some sort of allergic reaction. If my wife has even one sip of SweetWater 420, she will be laid up for at least a day with a migraine.

It is St. Louis so you better believe "everyone" drinks anything Budweiser. Which is all gross and worthless.
I'm so glad we have so many awesome micro brews though.
