What beer does "everyone" drink where you live?
I'm always curious about regional tastes. What's the popular brew in your area? (And where the heck do you live?)

Yay! Another beer thread.
Old Style and Goose Island in Chicago.
Busch or Nattie Light at most colleges.
PBR in LA comedy clubs.

Yuengling Lager is by far the most prevalent and popular around these parts, to the extent that it is just referred to as "lager" around here (e.g. if I go to a bar and ask for "a lager" they know what type I mean). The brewery is about 45 minutes from here. It's the oldest in the U.S. Great tour.

Pabst/Spotted Cow in Wisconsin. Pabst because it's usually $1.50/24oz, Spotted Cow because it's tasty and only in Wisconsin.

Yuengling is America's best cheap beer.
Although it is creepy to think I'm drinking "Young Man" beer.

Seconded. If you live in PA, you are guaranteed to see it somewhere.dsheinem wrote:Yuengling Lager is by far the most prevalent and popular around these parts, to the extent that it is just referred to as "lager" around here (e.g. if I go to a bar and ask for "a lager" they know what type I mean). The two major local (Maine) beers are Shipyard and Sea Dog. Both are very good. Sea Dog blueberry wheat is my favorite beer of all time.
They're very popular, but obviously pricier than "standard" beer.
PBR is popular among college kids. Heineken seems to be pretty big too.

In NY, Labatt Blue and other Canadian beer was very popular. Mostly inexpensive and very tasty compared to other cheap beer. Most all bars had it on tap for the same price as the typical cheap stuff. I've found this isn't the case everywhere though and am assuming being close to the border had something to do with it.
The beer selection in SC is terrible. You have to go to a distributor to get anything halfway decent, as most all of the stores just have Bud Light and other stuff that tastes like shit. Occasionally I find some decent stuff like Sam Adams if you look around enough, but yeah, pretty much all of the stores have a very limited beer selection not going far beyond Bud Light or Miller. I've gotten to the point where if I see Blue Moon, I get pretty excited. It seems most people are fine with drinking it too and that's all I've seen on tap in bars down here.

^ Indeed. My college days in Syracuse were fueled by Labatte Blue Light

We have 2 local breweries in Houston, St Arnolds and Karbach, which you see often in bars and restaurants in the area. In college at A&M we would often get Keystone as we could get 30 packs for $9.
Another popular beer (besides the big mainstream beers) is of course Shinerbock, from the brewery in Shiner, TX.
