indecks is a great member, and I very much enjoy reading his opinions (particularly his opinions on films). It most certainly was not a shot at him, and I am sory if I caused any offense - even unintentionally. I will edit my post.

Saw Pacific Rim the other day. Fantastic movie. I have a couple issues(mostly plot) but the action more than made up for any problems i had. Can't believe grown ups 2 beat it tho. Sometimes the world is a cruel cruel place.

Watched the 1983 movie "fire and ice" last night. Not sure what to think. I am a sucker for that style of animation but overall the movie did suck lol. Fun Fact: Turns out Robert Rodriguez bought the rights to fire and ice a couple years back and plans on directing an animated remake. Kool stuff.

I saw Fire and Ice years ago. I don't remember much. I know it was in a time when I 'discovered' that American animation was trying to be more adult like Anime.

I remember watching Light Years (Gandahar), Heavy Metal, and some other one I can't remember... street fight?

I like Ralph Bakshi, but Fire And Ice was not his best work. If you want a much better fantasy film from him, check this one out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... sg94KjU6rg

Another fun fact, the "Painter of Light" Thomas Kinkade was a background artist for this film...and anyone with even a passing interest in art would probably consider it his best work.

EDIT: I edited the language to make it less offensive to any members of this forum who might be fans of Kinkade's work...but as offensive as it was, I can assure you that it was never as offensive to Kinkade's fans as his art is to my sensibilities.

Fire and Ice was pretty good.

I have Heavy Metal, a classic.

I also have Light Years, but I haven't sat down and watched it yet. How is it?

Another one that a lot of people don't know about is Starchaser: The Legend of Orin, which I thought was the best out of that American 80s bunch (that I've seen).

ORIN! I couldn't remember that one! I was at my sisters place one day and she had some HBO combo thing for DirecTV, and it came on one day. I thought it wasn't too bad!

Light Years/Gandahar is... good? I guess? Its got a decent premise, and apparently the screenplay was written or adapted by Asimov, I can't remember. It just suffers from the "80s animation" plague that affected animated-not-for-kids films of the time. It's got a cool time travel paradox thing goin on. I do like it, but I wouldn't say its amazing or anything.

How do you have Light Years? DVD? VHS? I dont think it ever got a proper DVD release but I could be wrong.
