Time and Eternity
Re: Time and Eternity
Well yea. This game basically won awards in Japan for being awful. Nice idea though. Maybe on the PS4 someone will execute a JRPG that looks like anime properly.

I'm gonna buy it shortly after launch. The graphics look amazing and I've been known to dig games that get shredded by the critics.

Re: Time and Eternity
My special edition just shipped out from the NISA website, so hopefully it will arrive in the next week or so. Pretty interested to see what this game has to offer...

Re: Time and Eternity
It continually baffles me how NIS games consistently look just terrible to me, despite my love for RPGs and anime. Visually it looks completely atrocious, the gameplay looks horrid and stiff. I can totally appreciate what they were going for, but it doesn't look like they could have failed any harder. I know not everything is going to look like Valkyria Chronicles, but damn. You'd think at this point the unholy trio (NIS/Idea Factory/Compile Heart) would be able to provide something of quality even on the most basic level outside the Disgaea franchise, but I guess they are determined to do otherwise.
Then again, when games like Neptunia can gain explosive popularity and launch a franchise because OMG RETRO JOKES!!! novelty, it's not hard to see why they'll never attempt to raise the bar.

Well, I thought the Atelier games looked pretty decent this gen, even if I can't beat any of thembrunoafh wrote:It continually baffles me how NIS games consistently look just terrible to me, despite my love for RPGs and anime. Re: Time and Eternity
NIS doesn't make Atelier or Time and Eternity. But yea. The Atelier games at least have great character designs. The graphics in the dungeons aren't great, but the art in the towns isn't bad. Time and Eternity just looks shit.

Re: Time and Eternity
Well I'm interested in trying Time and Eternity and I liked Hyperdimension Neptunia (not so much the second game - not even gonna bother with the third).brunoafh wrote:It continually baffles me how NIS games consistently look just terrible to me, despite my love for RPGs and anime. Beyond that, everything else is a yawnfest. I don't even care for Disgaea - just a bunch of grinding and padding as far as I'm considered.
I think NIS has this hardcore weeaboo fanbase who just blindly laps this shiz up. Cuz ya know, cute anime girls and all. Or whatever.
I keep wanting to like their games, but it's getting harder and harder.
Re: Time and Eternity
Disgaea IS the only actual real NIS series of the ones being mentioned. And I think it's a lot of fun. Love the characters in Disgaea 4. Can't wait for Disgaea D2.
Guided Fate Paradox is another ACTUAL NIS game that looks pretty good. Will be out here soon. Spiritual successor to ZHP.

Yes. NIS actually generally makes pretty good games.Retrogamer0001 wrote:Ah, I assume they only publish them then?ZenErik wrote:NIS doesn't make Atelier or Time and Eternity. But yea. Check out their games developed list here:

Not all gems but mostly very solid.
NIS America just happens to publish a lot of mediocre RPGs from Gust, Idea Factory, Compile Heart, etc. Though Gust games will likely now just be published by Koei Tecmo. And Compile Heart doesn't compare to the quality of the original Compile.
