I haven't seen any thread, or even any discussion, for this upcoming game. And that must be corrected, because it looks like it will be superb.
The first thing anyone will notice about the game is it's slightly strange, but very welcomed, art direction. Everything is a 2D picture, but it's moving in a 3D space. Here's some screenshots:

(^Strangely, the main protagonist seems to be able to change her hair color at whim between blonde and a pinkish red)
According to what I've read (And seen in a video) the combat will be real time, and the story will involve a lot of time travel. Oh, and it's PS3 exclusive if anyone was wondering.
Also, if the Amazon page for the game can be believed, it will be releasing at a slightly budget price of $49.99.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go find some more info about this game, and if I find any specific's worth pointing out then I'll tell you all. In the meanwhile, what do you all think of the game? Or perhaps you know something I didn't point out?

It looks amazing, and I love real time combat. I hope it's not super grindy though like most Nippon Ichi titles. That would be a deal breaker for me

Here's a trailer with a really awful, cheesy sounding narrator. I hope he's not indicative of the game's english dub

Re: Time and Eternity
It's been in the making for awhile and released in Japan before X-mas (I think). Most of the opinions I have read are love it or hate it. I was really excited until I saw the game in action. I personally think the animation looks really jerky. It's almost as if they went over budget and had to stitch things together, leaving several key frames of animation out.
If you search Toki to Towa on Twitch.tv you can find a lot of recorded streams to get a better look at the game.
While I may not be as excited for the game, it is pretty awesome that we're actually receiving it on this side of the Pacific.
Edit: Oh, and the hair color represents the protagonist's two different personalities. I'm not positive, but I think that the dragon that follows her around is actually her fiancé's soul.

I keep reading that's the case unfortunately.Gamerforlife wrote:I hope it's not super grindy though like most Nippon Ichi titles.

Nice graphics.
I'm not crazy about NIS stuff, I'll wait and see what other people think before buying.
Is the cover art available?

I heard this was being localized the other day.
This graphical style of this game looks a thousand times better than what they tried to achieve with Ni No Kuni.

That's pretty much what I've read, too. I hope they release a demo; I don't like taking chances on "love it or hate it" games.wip3outguy7 wrote:Most of the opinions I have read are love it or hate it.

What was wrong with Ni No Kuni? I thought it was one of the best-looking games I've seen in a long while. I think Nintendo would be complete fools not to come out with a Pokemon game in that exact style...Opa Opa wrote:I heard this was being localized the other day.

Re: Time and Eternity
Nothing wrong with NNK; to me it just looked like an HD Dragon Quest VIII. It looks good, but not mind-blowing.

Seems like they were trying to do it like some japanese trailers, where the narrator has a stupid "conversation" with the viewer.
That's always annoyed the crap out of me, and it bugs me further that it was attempted here.
I am interested in the game overall though, and I like the animation style.

I'm not liking the synthesis of gal games and RPGs all over the place this gen.
