Thanks for the tips.Ack wrote:I played the first Modern Warfare a fair bit, and I'm surprised people still use Martyrdom. But then again, I never stayed anywhere long enough to get hit with it. Just keep moving, ducking, and weaving. Here's a couple of builds to try:
Special Grenades x3, UAV Jammer, Extreme Conditioning, P90 with Suppressor attachment - Rush as soon as you spawn and stick to buildings to hide in. Nobody will see you coming, and when you appear, use your stun grenades and then empty your magazine into everyone. But keep moving!
Bandolier, Sleight of Hand, Steady Aim, M1014 - Run up to point blank, always fire from the hip, aim for the stomach, and let the recoil carry you to a headshot if they somehow live through your barrage. If the enemy survives all four shots, stab them in the face (Hell, empty your four shells as you run up and then stab to be sure). Reload and run away. People will scream at you for being a cheap n00b (least they did when I used to do this). But it is satisfying to keep this barrage up until you run out of ammunition and are forced to use your sidearm and your knife...of which I prefer the knife.
Both of these are about getting in, spraying your enemies, and getting out before something like Martyrdom can go off. Just focus on staying in motion and making a beeline for the nearest spot of cover the instant you drop someone. Hit fast and then vanish.
I played a little more of CoD4 and tried what you said about staying on the move and it worked mostly. Although I've noticed that Martyrdom is a bigger problem when people are the ones rushing you. If you manage to kill a person before they get to you- good! but if they have Martyrdom and were anywhere close to you, you now have 1.75 seconds to gtfo before you explode. Which this is a problem when you get in a very team-oriented lobby because you'll have the chance of running into multiple Martyrdom players; although, the teams are something positive I'll say about the first Modern Warfare, people stay together pretty well... not like the new ones at all. Most people go solo on the newer titles.
I'll try out some of those builds whenever I unlock some of the perks/weapons. I still don't have sleight of hand. Dang I need sleight of hand. It feels like it takes ten years to reload your weapon without it.
Re: CoD/Battlefield discussion thread
Depends on the weapon, but yeah, sleight of hand was a great choice for that build. I didn't use it for others though, depending on what I wanted to try. I had a build for every weapon class, and I would switch depending on the map and how I felt like playing.Opa Opa wrote:Thanks for the tips.Ack wrote:I played the first Modern Warfare a fair bit, and I'm surprised people still use Martyrdom. A couple of things: Both of the builds I showed you are meant for harrassment, but they're more of a lone-wolf approach. If you want to stick with a team, you can, but I suggest you operate more either as a scout or someone holding up the rear. If you are the forward scout, run ahead, try to kill one guy in the group, and then pull back to draw them into your team. If you're in the rear, wait until your squad encounters the enemy and then sneak around for a flanking position, or pop whoever the outliers are on their squad to help whittle them down. And remember that there are multiple routes through any map, so if everyone is converging for a massive firefight in one place, go around and hit suddenly from the side.
If you would rather serve in the squad, I would suggest a heavy weapons approach: Double Tap, Steady Aim, and a light machinegun with a grip attached. Each light machinegun carries distinct advantages over the others:
M249 SAW - Fastest reload speed of this type, highest rate of fire, but lowest damage (for an LMG. It's still an obscene amount)
RPD - Lowest recoil, medium damage, but tied for worst reload speed in the game
M60E4 - Highest damage, but tied for worst reload speed in the game, slowest rate of fire, and is the only LMG to suffer damage drop off at range.
Personally, I'd go with M249 SAW, a hand grip, Steady Aim, and Double Tap, and then unload hellish bullet death on anything that moves.
Alternatively you could try M60E4, a hand grip, Juggernaut, and Deep Impact if you would rather bore through walls to prove your dominance.
Remember: with a LMG, you're now John Fucking Rambo! Play accordingly. NEVER ironsight that shit! You don't need to aim, as you now rely on the Wall of Bullets technique. Because people can dodge a single shot, but they are less likely to avoid something the size of a Buick.

Well I've started playing MW2 again. I still hate the map "Estate". Always have, always will.

I'm done with Call of Duty because of how fast you can reach the highest level. I'm buying Battlefield 4 this time around mainly for the destructible environments.

Re: CoD/Battlefield discussion thread
Ive started playing battlefield 3, been having a bit of trouble with the sniper. Why does everyone oneshot me easily with it but it always takes me two shots with it even if i hit them dead in the chest. Am i missing something is their like better ammunition i can unlock that makes it more powerful? One thing ive noticed is that it takes frigging forever to level up and unlock things. Ps the sniper rifle i was using was the green bolt action one.

Sniper rifles kind of suck in the beginning. Two shots is normal for the starting weapons. I think you get better rifles as time goes on.ninjainspandex wrote:Ive started playing battlefield 3, been having a bit of trouble with the sniper. Yeah, unlocking anything in that game takes a looong time. That aspect kind of got boring to me. At least in CoD there's a faster sense of progression; while that may be a turn off to some I only play these kinds of games in short spurts. It's nice to play for a couple hours and unlock new stuff.
Re: CoD/Battlefield discussion thread
Unlock the sks then the fore grip, silencer/suppressor and then use the iron sights or a red dot of your choice. Now you have the greatest flanking squad rapist in the game. Actual sniping is for try hards.ninjainspandex wrote:Ive started playing battlefield 3, been having a bit of trouble with the sniper. Re: CoD/Battlefield discussion thread
Once you unlock it, I would recommend the straight bolt attachment as you can fire off two rounds while scoped in. Helps to get that one extra shot in to get the kill.ninjainspandex wrote:Ive started playing battlefield 3, been having a bit of trouble with the sniper.
