Can't remember the last time I felt the need to send a physical letter.
I prefer "Progressive Patriotic Traditionalist", but yup. Besides online quips and snark, I prefer to think things over. Even my style is very Colonial and traditional, from house to attire.

The significance of a hand written letter is inexplicably profound. When one of my best friends died I wrote a solemn hand written letter to his parents, and they framed it. We aren't talking calligraphy here, just a hand written letter in cursive. You are taking the time for someone who deserves your time.

Hell, use lined paper if you need to, but write someone a decent letter once in a while.

I have always found my handwriting is infinitely better when using cursive than it is with print. There is a certain train of thought that goes into it. I write more slowly, more legibly. It is like anything else in this world, it makes you appreciate your words by taking things more slowly and fluidly.

Taking your time when writing in cursive to make it look more neat and legible seems contrary to the entire point of cursive to begin with, doesn't it?

Yes and no.

The point of it is to make it pretty and not screw up. Penning in cursive can be a pain as once you screw up, you start all over...but that is the point of the learning process; don't screw up.

It's taking the time to show you care about what the other person is reading.

I can't think of the last time I have sent off a handwritten letter.

I use cursive to sign my name on letters that I dictate and my assistant types for me.

If I write personal correspondence by hand, then I use a stylized mix of cursive and print that borders on calligraphy...(In other words, my handwriting sucks.)

I had a hand writing/English teacher once say "Obviously you were meant to be a Southpaw". Since then, my cursive is sloppy at times, but rather well, and through years of getting it wrong, my print resembles what you may see in a comic. All caps, sans serif, small letters.

Frown: Mistook an old Goose Island bottle for a new one. I took a swing of old stale beer that had toenails in it. Toenails.

That's why I either finish my drink or pour the undrank portion down the drain right away.

Well, better than the old swig o' dip spit or cigarette butts, at least.
