Makes the reveal that you're the reincarnation of Grima hit that much harder. The opening segment you likely forgot about? That was you betraying your own husband. Lucina doesn't just lose her parents to the war; her mother is the entire reason for the war.
I think that's what makes Lucina a fascinating choice as a male avatar's wife too. She essentially goes back in time to murder the man she ends up falling in love with. That's why I had a tough time deciding between her and Cordelia, because I knew Lucina was going to be a big part of the story and she was.

Yeah, Lucina is also an interesting one. She goes back in time to stop the big evil from starting, while back in time she falls in love, and then the revelation comes that she fell in love with the evil she's trying to stop. I just like how Avatar marrying Chrom makes the opening cutscene and it's replay much more awesome in it's "holy shit" factor. And I thought it made the post-credits cutscene a little more heartwarming.

It does fit rather nicely. I had always considered the tragedy of Chrom being killed by his friend, but never really thought about it from the perspective of a female avatar who has married him. And it all gets so much worse later when Lucina is threatening to kill her own mom. So much drama in this game

And I love it. I was drawn to both Cordelia and Lucina because of their tragic stories. Cordy has the whole survivor's guilt, the unrequited love, and the inferiority complex that manifests itself in her trying to be perfect at everything. And Lucina with her whole apocalyptic future and the different ways she can end up trying to kill someone she loves in the same way the avatar (male or female) killed Chrom. The game's got a great story

I had a few things spoiled for me so I don't want to do that to someone else. Though I have to say, even with spoilers I still thoroughly enjoyed the game and still got sucked into the story.

we should change the name of this thread.

I made my avatar male and married him to Tharja.

One thing I'm wondering is the future children....

Do their parents change depending on who you partner them with?

This is my first time playing, so I want to see what happens on a second playthrough.

It seems like theres some similarites in the future kids looks to their parents, like hair color. Is this a part of the game? Would the hair colors change depending on who their parents are?

lets discuss.

Hair color is affected by the non-locked parent, I believe. Every non-Morgan child is locked to a particular mom, so Cordelia always births Severa. Morgan comes from the Avatar, so a male avatar who marries one of the females with children will be the parent of two kids, same with a female avatar who marries Chrom.

There must be lots of combinations for children, but I guess theres only so much.

This game is still a work in pogress for me, but this is what i have so far:

My male character + Tharja made two children
Morgan: Dark Mage
Noire: Archer

Chrom + Sully (game did it automatically)
Lucina
Kjelle

Virion + Cherche
Gerome: Wyvern rider

stahl + Miriel
Laurent: Mage

What came up for you guys?

Im still working on other characters so lets see.....

Miriel always makes Laurent
Tharja always makes Noire
The Avatar always makes Morgan

Every child is tied to a single parent. Everyone but Morgan and Lucina are tied to their mothers; if the mother is paired off you get that particular child. If you pair off the Avatar, you get Morgan. Chrom automatically gets paired off and produces Lucina.

So really the thing that you get from figuring out the combinations is how the children get their class selection. Every child has an innate selection of classes (which might be 0) and then gets all the available classes of both their parents. Gender specific classes have a defined transformation, so if Noire's father has Male Class A she'll have access to Female Class A (this is well documented on SerenesForest.net). Also, the children inherit the lowest active skill in each of the parent's equipped skills at the time that you do their recruitment map (by lowest I mean last position in the list). This allows for gender specific skills to be passed to the opposite gender. This lets you engage in pairing to create children with the ability to get a particular skill setup that you wouldn't be able to get with first generation characters.
