I agree. The soundtrack alone blows away Starfox 64, and a lot of other games as well. The scoring system is also better than the irritating one in Starfox 64 that is overly dependent on players using bombs in really awkward, un-intuitive ways. Not to mention that Starfox 64 just goes overboard with the amount of enemies it throws at you in some stages. It's excessive. There's a level of restraint in the original game, not present in SF64. The lack of real voice acting also works to the original game's advantage. It's much less embarrassing to play within earshot of other people than Starfox 64. Plus, the non-arwing stages in Starfox 64 were crappy and unnecessary, particularly the god awful underwater stage, which you can add to the legions of other bad, underwater levels we've seen in so many games over the decades.

In terms of level design and game play though (not counting the scoring system and non-arwing stages), Starfox 64 is still a good game, and it looks better than the original, but that's not really a fair comparison given the hardware. As a piece of tech, Starfox is more impressive for its respective system than Starfox 64 is.

Starfox is a masterpiece with dated visuals. Starfox 64 is a worthy, but very flawed sequel.

I don't like any of the Starfox games.

1. Medal of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead - PC (January 2)
2. America's Army - Arcade (January 12) - 1cc!
3. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - Gamecube (January 26)
4. Dragon Spirit - NES (February 7) - 1cc!
5. Final Fantasy - (by way of DoS) - GBA (March 15)
6. Wing Commander - PC (March 21)
7. Medal of Honor European Assault - Gamecube (March 30)
8. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow - Gamecube (April 6)
9. Half-Life - PC (April 25)
10. Fantastic Dizzy - Genesis (May 16)
11. Fatal Fury Special - NeoGeo (in MAME) (June 10)
12. *NEW* Gun - Gamecube (June 15)

I finally got around to it. The thing was, I wanted to get all the important side quests done (all of them except for 3-4 more hunting challenges) to get my stats up for the final battle with Magruder. The thing is, you can't simply shoot him dead. There's a couple of parts where you must use other means to finally defeat him. The nice thing about the game is you get his special weapon at the end, and even though the main storyline is complete, you are still free to finish the rest of the side missions for full completion. I don't see that on many games. Maybe if I can do better in hunting I'll return to it.

I was also surprised at the talent they got for voices in this game. Names like Kris Kristofferson, Tom Skeritt, Kath Soucie, Lance Henriksen, Dave Wittenberg and Ron Perlman. All in all, it was a very fun and accessible experience. Very easy to pick up and play and come back to later. Highly recommended if you're a fan of westerns.

Gun was definitely one of my most played PS2 games. Loved it. Story was good, guns & horses were well done, awesome dismemberment :), decent story, and some what large map. Now that I think about it I really want a Gun 2. Doesn't have to be a direct sequel ore anything but would be awesome to see another one on a current gen system.

1. NHL '94 (SCD)
2. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (Sat)
3. Bust-A-Move Pocket (NGPC)
4. Sonic The Hedgehog (DC)
5. Columns (DC)
6. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (DC)
7. Capcom Vs. SNK (DC)
8. ChuChu Rocket (DC)
9. Nightwarriors Darkstalkers' Revenge (Sat)
10. Half-Life (DC)
11. Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Sat)
12. Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (Sat)
13. Dead or Alive 5 (PS3)
14. Final Fantasy (PSP)
15. Lollipop Chainsaw (360)

so thanks to DSH and gamerforlife reminding me to finish it up, I finally saw the end of my most anticipated game of 2012. It easily ranks as my favorite Suda51 game that I've played yet - and I've played a fair share (NMH, Samurai Shamploo, Shadows of the Damned). A more indepth post on my blog later - but yeah loved it. Not sure why I let my attention get diverted when I was 2/3rds of the way thru.

DISMEMBERMENT was a message I got used to quite a few times. For an M-rated game, it was a bit more gruesome than other games I've played.

I first thought Red Dead Redemption was the *sequel*. Then I noticed it was from a different dev/publisher

I went the extra mile and went through another long session of FFS for a different platform. Compared to the original, the game itself is a lot faster, but certain animations and sounds were done away with. I believe this is the first TR game I played and completed multiple ports in. I'm done with this, however

They got those ports right too. The GBA port of Sonic The Hedgehog is dreadful and is very disappointing. Not that I won't play it if I get the itch, but nothing compares to the original.

I played HOME ALONE only for the hilarious "cut scenes". Not sure why, but "Hey Marv" cracks me up.

Besides Bionic Commando and Mini Final Fight (to an extent) the games were more of a distraction than a challenge. Got all the hidden treasures in DT, but not sure about DT2. Does DT2 have multiple endings?

Super Mario Land 1 and 2 are so different that they feel worlds apart. I prefer tight controls over graphics, so as good looking as SML2 is, I prefer the original. Nostalgia might play in a factor in that as well.

TMNT RFTSewers is super goofy. The jump kick always looks odd, and it doesn't carry a "TMNT vibe" beyond the characters involved.

However, I still LOVE F-1 Racing and wish I had a pal with a Gameboy to play against. The soundtrack may as well be "Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm", but I very much enjoy racing games where the race is a game of light taps. It's no Night Driver or Grand Prix, but it is in the same vein of "one wrong tap and you lose".

...Time to play some Grand Prix. That was the first game that I had a high score published, and I was super proud.

My Mother had to contact the camera's manufacturer on how to take a picture of a tv screen as I didn't want to ruin my moment, and the score HAD to be visible (and I think it was still over a dime per photo). Also had to wait around two weeks to get the physical prints, and then send them off in the mail.
