How'd you like the Donner cut of II? :)

For me, it's definitely rough around the edges and feels a tad 'incomplete' because of the way they had to reconstruct it, but overall I think I prefer it to the original theatrical cut.
New Brando footage, looks better than Lester's, and no memory deleting kiss. I'll take the Donner cut.

And yeah, they erased the memory kiss thingy in IV as Lois says something close to "I know who've been all along", but I still prefer the Donner cut.

Good. There is an 11am showing of MAN OF STEEL this coming Friday, so I can take the wife and see it with a crowd. Plus I can sit back, relax, and enjoy the film without having to be nitpicky. It's one of those films that you want to watch again as soon as the movie is over.

And although I watched it in my home theater, I can not wait to see it on a huge screen. One thing Snyder does in the movie is show something from a distance, and then zoom in quickly, which almost makes you feel like you are there (and don't worry, the entire isn't slow-mo to fast-mo). My notes indicate he overused that effect, but I also didn't think it took away from the movie one bit.

After seeing what an awesome job Snyder did with Watchmen (a book that was considered unfilmable for decades), I'm super excited to see Man Of Steel. If nothing else, I know it's gonna be visually stunning 'cause that's what Snyder really excels at (Guardians Of Gahoole is a good example of this).

You bet your bippy.

Good thing is that the effects aren't what makes the movie great.

Do you mean All Star Superman? If so, I agree. The animated version was a bit meh. But the comic it's based on was pretty great!

THE MALTESE FALCON

Another classic I've never seen until last night. It was a great movie. Had me interested in what was going on from the very beginning, but I have to admit it wasn't what I expected. Somehow I expected it to be more of an adventure than a mystery. I don't know why. I thought there would be more of a search for the Falcon. It wasn't disappointing though, it was a pretty great movie.

KICK ASS

Love this movie for the silly fun it is. I've seen it dozens of times, and the same quirky moments make me laugh every time. KICK ASS is super goofy and super violent, so I could see how some wouldn't enjoy it (especially the jerking off stuff in the first act), but the movie cracks me up.

I'm hoping one issue is resolved in the sequel: the bullies who stabbed Kick Ass. They pretty much provided the extra inspiration for the character to become Kick Ass, and then we never see them again. Wouldn't the most logical thing for Kick Ass to do is confront the bullies?

Yep, that's a great one alright. Definitely a contender for best mystery film of all time. I've always thought it was interesting that the Falcon itself has almost nothing to do with the plot other than providing Sam Spade's initial motivation. When it finally shows up, its as if the writers suddenly realized they needed to include it somewhere to justify naming the movie after it.

As far as the comics go, Kick Ass 2 doesn't show Dave confront them either. Kick Ass 3 just started, but I haven't read it. So maybe in this series it'll happen.

This is my favorite genre, and the Malteste Falcon is one of the best. If you liked this film, I am happy to recommend others.

Last night, my wife and I watched Method Man (1979). With some very, very solid fights, it definitely was not an exception to the general rule that:

"Kung fu films referenced or sampled by any member of the Wu Tang Clan are awesome."

THE INTERNSHIP
Other than a few parts where things were cringe worthy stupid, it was pretty good. Funny movie and that joke Lyle made made me crack up.
"So I'm gonna walk up to her and be like, Hey, wanna join the Lyle high club?"
