So using "B" button to cancel bullets changes this game...again. It's taking some getting used to. It went from a 6 button game...really to an 8 button game with A and B buttons serving multiple functions. I love it.

Took 2 awful runs to get better at using it...to note - it does not cancel all bullets (found out the hard way). Most big bullets can't be canceled, but some can.

Minor improvement:
1,887,900 - mjmjr25 - Stage 3 (boss) - 48 Chain / 221 hit - SATURN

Oh, and my daughter (3) got to the stage 1 boss on 1 credit - he tore her up good though.

Gah! I was playing this on Shmupmame 4.2 again, (despite it being a bit crashy) mainly because I can assign custom buttons, to have separate normal-fire and auto-fire buttons. I just cleared Stage 3 for the first time with 1.7 million and the bonus still to be added, when it crashed again. :(

I guess it's back to Shmupmame 2.2...

I'd assume the arcade version doesn't either. I don't understand why shmup competitions allow user implemented auto/rapid fire scores to count...

Well, this should make the thread a bit longer... For Varth, more people wanted to talk about auto-fire than actually play the game

You do understand why it is an unfair advantage, right?

Yeah, but I think people are a bit precious about it. Trying to recreate that 'authentic' arcade experience.

My experience from Japanese arcades is that a lot of arcade games that aren't supposed to have an auto-fire button (Giga Wing, Strikers 1945 II, Raiden Fighters Jet, Darius Gaiden, etc.) often have an extra C button with full-auto.
