Which game?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

To be clear: Whichever game you pick does not have to be the game you will play everyday for the rest of your life. It could be a very small portion of your life - it's a choice thing.

The game you pick is the only game you'll ever play, but only whenever you feel like it.

Fairly surprised no one has mentioned Oblivion, although it is expected that most everyone would pick a 2D game. I'd call Oblivion a worthy contender, personally.

Remember: It doesn't have to be a game you will play often. Just the only game you can play.

Dude first you quoted a question that states something completely different then that, so that could lead to some confusion.

On top of that, you're asking a bunch of avid gamers to imagine not being able to play videogames for the rest of their life. Think about it, to tell a gamer he can only play one game, which he will innevitably get bored of, is basically saying you won't be a gamer anymore. Are you surprised people are skeptical of your question?

And that's supposed to be in a satirical/comical tone, not a serious tone.

Yep, the confusion is a fault of my own for not including it in the original post.
Although, the post that I had pasted here did not say one need play it everyday of their life, but as he or she - nor me - did not say otherwise, the confusion is understandable.

Indeed. This is why I said that everyone should feel free to list a bunch of potentials, or one for each genre, or any other way you might see fit.

I don't want anyone thinking long and hard about this. I would ask that everyone take the question loosely.

Anyhow, where are those unknown gems I was hoping for? :)

China Warrior. I couldn't do solitary confinement, and China Warrior would motivate me to find a way to commit suicide.

Seriously though, if the prison part is irrelevant, Super Mario World comes to mind. Even if it's not my number one favorite, I enjoy it a lot and it's tremendously replayable.

Why are people mentioning games NOT on SNES? Thought that was a little weird.

This is a freaking hard question, but I'd say, Chrono Trigger, because I've NEVER played it. Why they chose no PAL release, I'll never understand.

My 2nd choice would be Super Mario All-Stars, so many classics in one.

The problem spec in the OP specified that it wasn't necessary to restrict to the SNES, which makes sense for this community, as there's a Sega slant here.

Fair enough, but he does say in the original quote:

"With the SNES you must choose ONE game that you can play for the rest of your life."

Anyways, not trying to be a tool or anything, just an observation :)

SNES: Super Mario World. If I'm not sick of it by now, I don't think I'll ever get sick of it.

But if I had the option of choosing outside the SNES library, I'd pick Civilization 2 on PC.

If I had to be stuck with one game, it would probably be Tetris (any platform).

Why not just use the stranded on a desert island example :)
