yup you hit the nail on the head my dood. Movies are a passive experience. Truth be told, I'm a horror junky now, but didn't adore them til college. Before then, growing up, I was so scared of them.
The original RE scared the shit out of me at 16. And I've still never beaten it. Haha. But so far Code Veronica has been the scariest to me.
But yeah RE4... I hear those villagers yelling and I just tense up. Hahaha. I am gonna push myself this Summer though, cuz I do love RE4 (at least as much as I've played of it, um, up until the big alligator thing?).
Michi, you're a perfect person to bring into this conversation though. Have you played RE4? Have you seen Dagon? There's so much Dagon in this game. Weird.

I've played part of RE4 (I'm a wimp, remember) and I haven't seen Dagon.noiseredux wrote:Michi, you're a perfect person to bring into this conversation though. Have you played RE4? Have you seen Dagon? There's so much Dagon in this game. Weird.
But after looking at a few screenshots and reading a couple descriptions of Dagon (which make it sound awesome) I can see your line of thought. Similar plot concepts, similar atmosphere, similar aesthetic style, there's that whole religious cult thing going on....Yeah. Even without seeing the movie I can see the similarities.
Especially when I noticed this guy in one of the screenshots I was browsing:

I suddenly have the urge to upgrade by bag size.
If members of Capcom didn't take some inspiration from that Lovecraft movie adaptation when making RE4 than I am a Spanish villager's Cthulhu deity.

lulz. YOU need to see Dagon. It is hands-down my favorite Lovecraft adaptation. (It's Shadow Over Innsmouth... like so many other movies. But the best version).
Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - Begin when ready!
Well, I was going to start Ducktales, but then I found Dagon on Youtube. There went my plans for the rest of the night

Gah, playing Metal Slug 2, I keep getting iced in Mission 5. The furthest I can get is up to the area with the mutants.
Practice practice. Its a good thing the game is so damn fun.

1. Demon's Crest - SNES
2. Sonic Pocket Adventure - NGPC
3. Harvest Moon GBC - GBC
4. Panzer Dragoon - Saturn
5. Shadowrun - Genesis
6. Chrono Cross - PS1
7. Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys - Genesis - Complete
8. Deus Ex - PC
9. Metal Slug 2 - PSN
10.Golden Axe 3 - Genesis - Complete
Golden Axe 3 is finished!
While I really like all the extra moves and branching paths they added to this game, its still not quite as good as the first two. If the controls were smoother and the whole thing was a bit less clunky overall, it'd be much better. Still very enjoyable though, despite my frustrations with certain bosses.
I took the path that has you fighting and saving all 3 of the other characters, and I even managed to fight the true final boss and get the good ending. I can't seem to find a concrete answer as to how that is done, but its likely related to your score/rank. I entered the final level with a B rank (score 400 something), and that seems to have been enough. Finished the game with an A rank and 625 points. Beat the final boss on my last life of my last credit though, so it was close.
I used Sahra, if anyone was curious.

I found when I was playing RE4 for my Summer Challenge last year that I never really got scared, but damn did I get stressed out or tensed up on some missions. I don't wanna talk about them because you probably haven't reached them yetnoiseredux wrote:yup you hit the nail on the head my dood. Movies are a passive experience. Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - Begin when ready!
More Bubble Bobble today.
Started out at stage 113, powered my way through to stage 199, beat it, prepafred myself for the final boss AND...
Stage 199 again. What? Beat it again, same thing. And again.
Turns out those 3 secret items I needed to get are compulsory to see the ending. I picked up the first two, but skipped by the third because you need 1,000,000 points for it to activate, and I die way too often for that to happen. But now I've got to somehow pull that off.
My best chance is probably to go back to stage 181, which is right after the last boss (who is pretty damn tough) and try to successfully run through stages 181-195 without dying in order to get the last secret item. I'm really not looking forward to it, those are some pretty damn tough stages
EDIT: Tried several times to get the 1,000,000 points. Even starting from 181, it takes a pretty good and a pretty lucky run to actually hit 1,000,000 by level 195. I managed to it ONE time, but it required killing all of the enemies in stage 195 andunfortunately I couldnt reach the door on time before it dragged me off to 196.
Fuck this game.

There's no shame in abandoning some of the games on your list. It's more about playing neglected classics with the intent to beat them/give them a fair shake rather than actually having to beat them if it turns out you hate the game.alienjesus wrote: Fuck this game.

considering that most versions of BB are just the 100 levels, I'd say you beat the game AJ.
