I'm curious about how people playing Pulseman end up feeling about Stage 7. I think it's total BS, but maybe I'm just a puss.
I dont think I've ever reached stage 7 before, so I guess I have that to look forward to. I think there was a stage that I couldnt stand before that though - stage 5 or 6 I think. It's covered in water - the first segment has power lines extended over a rising and falling water level, which is irritating, but the 2nd segment has you falling through a series of mines underwater which is awful, because you cant see them coming and its all based on luck and trial and error.

Anyhow, I spent a (long) day playing (an awful lot of) Diddy Kong Racing. I now have 39 of 47 balloons, I beat all the world bosses twice, and Wizpig once. Doing that gave me credits, so I guess I could technically count the game as finished, but I also unlocked 4 extra stages and another boss fight with Wizpig (complete with another batch of credits) so I'll probably finish that stuff up to truly count it as beaten.

I have to win the trophy races (basically the same as mario kart grand prix) to get to the 4 new levels, then beat them, get all the coins on those levels and race Wizpig once more to finish it. It MIGHT be possible to do it in one go, but based on the difficulty spike the games gone through lately, I'm betting it'll be a few more sessions yet.

Yeah, I know the stage you're talking about. That one's tough, but I kind of like it. It's the boss for that stage that makes me angry. After figuring out how one's supposed to damage it, I had a slightly better time, but it was still kinda wonky. Would have been nice if they had just done something other than submerging the player underwater, but oh well.

Played some Doom. Kind of weird to go back to an FPS that doesn't allow you to aim on the Y-axis. Still it's still pretty fun after all this time, I'm playing with a controller on my PC .. hehe

Put another hour so into FF last night. I just got the witch's crystal eye back for her. Really enjoying this, and playing on PSP is very convenient.

Tomorrow after work I'll stop by that game shop and see if they have the correct (LE) Doom disc to swap with me.

Matoya's Cave is actually one of my favorite BGMs in all of Final Fantasy(s). I might periodically Matoya Roll you from now on, Noise.

I still haven't decided what's going to replace Technoclash.

First, I'm thinking Final Fantasy 9, a game I love but have never actually seen the credits for. When I first played it (I bought it shortly after it came out as a greatest hits title), I made it to the final area, but got stuck for some reason and didn't finish it.

Or, I'm thinking Chrono Cross. I played a teeny bit of this years back and did not like the combat, but I feel like I should give it a better chance.

So I've kinda seen 99% of what FF9 has to offer, but without actually completing it I just don't think I'm done yet. Especially since I tend to go on about it being my favorite in the series. If I did play this I of course would start completely fresh from the beginning.

I also think I need to play CC just because I love Chrono Trigger so much. I'll probably end up like a lot of people bitching that its not as good, but it should be experienced anyway.

Whatchoo guys think?

Funny thing about Final Fantasy, with the exception of 8, I've played all of the main series games to some extent, some more a lot more than others. But I've only actually completed (beat the final boss, watched the credits) 7 and 10. What the hell is wrong with me?

Have you played FF12? (a lot of people tend to not count the newer installments when they talk about the series, that's why I'm asking). if not, give that a try.

Why not try FF8? It's a shame for it to be the only one in the series you haven't beaten.

Otherwise I think Final Fantasy 9 is a very good option. Even if you have played the game in the past, it just has so many beautiful memorable moments, that you'll just be looking forward to what happens next.

Also don't forget that soundtrack which is probably Uematso's best work after FF6

I don't think you can go wrong between FF9 and Chrono Cross. They're my favorite Square RPGs on the console, but I'd probably give the nod to Chrono Cross considering the differences in time investment, and I generally like it a smidgen better.

I do hope you'll put Chrono Trigger out of mind if you pick up Chrono Cross, as the latter is far and away the better, more daring, of the two.

1) Alladin (MD)
2) Rolling Thunder 2 (MD)
3) Megaman X3 (PS1 version)
4) Flashback (MD)
5) Sonic CD
6)
7) The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
θ) Donkey Kong (GB)
9)
10) Crash Bandicoot 2 (PS3 store version)
Ok. my list is now missing 2 games. For some reason the music doesn't work correctly for Megaman X4 and 5 on the PS2 collection, but the problem probably is with my burned copy, or the fact that I'm playing an NTSC game on a modded PAL console, on an HD TV.

Any idea how to fix it? If no (which is probable, since google didn't come up with anything so my problem is probably unique. I need to try burning the game again, but my burner is busted :( ), I am open to ideas for my last 2 retro classics. I was thinking of one of them being Alundra, and the other Klonoa 2 on the PS2, what do you guys think?

Go for Klonoa 2, that game is a lot of fun and really really good. Since your playing Flashback, maybe try the less successful sequel for the PS1/PC Fade to Black.
