Well, hopefully they'll come to their senses and value that you're a grown/growing human being with the ability to form your own opinions and ideas, regardless if they align with theirs or not.SamuraiMegas wrote:I was actually going to tell her that when she said it. My mom is the same way. I was always made to go to church. I can't just enjoy spending time with her now that we are alot older without a conversation of me going to hell. This easter i told her happy zombie jesus day.SamuraiMegas wrote:I told my parents I was atheist... my mom said knowing I was atheist made her feel like she had to puke or something stupid like that and that she is a terrible mother.

My dad thinks it's just a "phase." And it is not. For sure.

Now are you really atheist or agnostic? Atheism is basically a religion all unto itself.SamuraiMegas wrote:My dad thinks it's just a "phase." And it is not. For sure.

Am I? I am just not a religious/spiritual person, it was my understanding that atheism was basically its own form of religion.AppleQueso wrote:Okay now you're just pushing buttons.Jmustang1968 wrote:Atheism is basically a religion all unto itself.

Athiesm is a lack of religion and belief in a higher being. It's not at all like a religion. There are no followers. It's just a lack of the belief in god/ a higher being/etc.Jmustang1968 wrote: Am I? Not necessarily. What you are describing is someone who is irreligious. While some atheists are irreligious, there are some whose denial of certain or all deities closely represents religion. An example is humanist atheists who believe people to be the higher power etc...RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Athiesm is a lack of religion and belief in a higher being. It's not at all like a religion.
