And I'm underway!
I decided to start with Diddy Kong Racing, just becausse I wanted to. Played through the first 16 courses and beat the first 4 bosses. I have 24 balloons, apparently there are 47 total. From here on out is where it all gets tricky though - silver coin challenges where you have to get all 8 coins on the track and still place first, then tougher boss rematches.
I still plan to get to Prime 3 soon, but I'm waiting to find out if I can get someone to trade me the friend vouchers needed for some unlockables, or if I'm gonnaa have to download a save file from gamefaqs which has 3 unstarted files all with the 15 friend tokens required on them. I don't want to start my own file and then find out I need to download that.
I plan to spend a day tomorrow just chilling and playing some of these games. Was thinking more Diddy Kong, some Pulseman perhaps and maybe some Bubble Bobble. Should be fun.

Spent about a half an hour each with MediEvil and Commander Keen.
They are ok.

I'm curious about how people playing Pulseman end up feeling about Stage 7. I think it's total BS, but maybe I'm just a puss.alienjesus wrote:I plan to spend a day tomorrow just chilling and playing some of these games. I'm hoping to finish up Phantasy Star this weekend. Will be getting into my list after that. I'll probably hold off on Aladdin, Rocket Knight, Blaster Master and Panzer Dragoon until it seems like others are picking those ones up; which pretty much leaves me with Dynamite Deka, unless I want to play RPGs back to back. Might play Dragon Quest 1&2 to get an immediate sense of what the competing JRPGs of the late 80s were all about. Plus I've been itching to play more Dragon Quest games for a while.

doesn't sound too positive for so early in the 'Summer.'dsheinem wrote:Spent about a half an hour each with MediEvil and Commander Keen.

It has begun! I finished Kirby and am pretty deep into Monkey Island 2. I played a bit of Metroid and have to say that it is very confusing as to where to go and what to do. I've got about an hour in and feel like I missed a lot of stuff.

I played through this earlier in the year, and held off on using any sort of map or help until about the time I needed to fight Ridley and Kraid. It's sort of hard to miss things and progress if you don't know where and how to sequence break, though. Usually the enemies will pretty much tell you when you're not supposed to be there yet.BogusMeatFactory wrote:It has begun! I finished Kirby and am pretty deep into Monkey Island 2. I've decided I'm adding Kirby 64 to my list. I beat most of it already but I want to finish it. I really loved it and got far into it.

I don't know if it's really healthy to test the ire of Dave. What with your age, and all. I just--you have so much to live for. I would reconsider. I think that would be for the best. Cement is such a tricky material: One minute it's soft, the next it's tying you down with the force of a thousand sons. Hey, whatyagunnado. It would be such a shame--yet understandably unavoidable--if there were to be an accident. Y'know?
What's up with the camera angle in Kirby 64, though? Were they just trying to hammer home that 'this game is not in 2D.' Looks pretty good aside from that, anyway.

Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - What will you be playing?
Final List:
1.Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (Dreamcast)
2.Rocket Knight Adventures (Genesis)
3.Mother 2 (SNES) & Mother 3 (GBA)
4.Parodius Da!(Saturn/PSP)
5.Fantasy Zone (???)
6.Super Metroid (SNES)
7.Blaster Master (NES)
8.Mega Man (series)
9.Super Mario Bros. (series)
10.Monster World IV (Genesis)
Quick change up before I start next week. I probably won't play through all the Mega Man games, but there were a lot of them I started and never finished as a kid. I'm going to start with the first one and go as far as I can. I'm betting I'll get 5 out of these 10 finished before the summer ends, but I'm shooting for more.
Rules before I start:
1.Must finish Half-Life (So close to the end. Just can't manage to sit down and play)
2.Must finish Parodius (MSX version on PSP)
3.Must get to/paste the S.S. Anne on LeafGreen (Easy)

Gonna stick with my original list.............
Plus the two "together RPG" games that occur during the summer - Shining Force II and Phantasy Star II. I'll actually played through Phantasy Star II before, but I'll try out a different port this time.BoneSnapDeez wrote: Breath of Fire III (PSP [PAL] - port of the PlayStation game)
Final Fantasy Legend (Game Boy)
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (GBC)
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (GBC)
Magician Lord (Neo Geo X - port of the AES game, built-in title)
Psychic World (Game Gear)
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon (GBA - a remake of the first game)
