the final list, and starting tonight...

the final decision was Ninja Gaiden Sigma (replacing Mad World). I put Ninja Gaiden Black on my list last year, but didn't even play long enough to save once. Been really in the mood to give it another go.

Besides, there's one entry in that list that clearly suggests a lack of dogmatism...
You're right, I don't know why I was arguing with about the classics, considering I have two degrees in Classics and soon will have a third. 8)

Nice list noise...are you playing Dracula X on the SNES? I'm trying to track down a cart but can't find one reasonably priced anywhere...

nah, PSP port. I figure I'll finally play through it, AND unlock a portable SOTN. So two birds/one stone.

I think it also has Rondo IIRC.

ah well this sucks. Popped in Doom 3 LE and... where's Doom I & II? Oh I see. The disc inside the case was the standard Doom 3, not the LE disc. The game place gave me the wrong disc. I won't be able to get back there until Tuesday though. :x

Which to start tonight? Dracula X or Final Fantasy?

Dracula X is difficult...really difficult. It can be beaten in a night though if you have skill and determination :P

welp, 2.5 hours with Final Fantasy. Sucked me back in fast.

A little history: Final Fantasy was either the first or second RPG I ever played. I really can't recall if it was this or Dragon Warrior. In my hazy memory I got them about the same time and was really into both. Though DW probably was first, as it came free with my Nintendo Power subscription and FF I obtained through a trade with a friend.

Back then, I had no idea about the concept of grinding. Hell that took me at least a decade haha. But I was always a fan - not just of the game but of the series. Through the years, I've played most of the numbered FF installments, along with many spin-offs (all 3 GB games, Crystal Chronicles, Mystic Quest, and so on). However, and I've stated this before, I've never beaten a single FF game. Instead, I've tended to enjoy my quest for however many hours and then moved on to whatever next game grabbed my attention. I've never felt cheated, it's just how I tend to be attention-wise with RPG's. But it's time I see my way through some full FF's out of respect for what they've accomplished.

As I said, I've played the original on NES - probably the most times. And I've started quests on PS1 as well. But wow. The PSP port is amazing. The graphics, music, and adjusted menus really make for a pretty perfect (for me, as a player) vision of this original game. I'm glad I chose this one for Summer Gaming this year and look forward to seeing all the stuff I never got to prior.

Good stuff noise! Final Fantasy is on my list of games to beat too, but I have about five hundred RPGs on my backlog to beat...someday! I'm playing the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on SNES tonight and am stuck on 6-2...shoot me please!
