I won't be buying any more games this month, so I'm making this post now.

This will be my last "big" month for the foreseeable future. My job ends on June 11th, and thus I won't have any income to buy games with.

I decided to copy noise and include pictures with this post.

I snagged an Atari 7800 from a member here. Really neat console, wish I had gotten into it sooner. Now that I have a 2600 and 7800, the 5200 seems like a big gaping hole in my collection - though I'm honestly not in any rush to pick up one of those.

Image
Four Atari 7800 games - two I received with the console, the other two I purchased separately.

Image
My original C64 floppy drive failed, so I picked up this accelerator drive. It's awesome - incredibly fast and quiet.

Image
Two complete C64 disk games I picked up from an online game store that was going out of business.

Image
Some loose C64 disks. I've actually owned Kung Fu Master for two years, but it never worked until I tried to run it in the new disk drive. Glad I held onto it!

Image
Some C64 carts. Most of these were purchased from a member here. I'm still lol'ing about the fact that I now own a game called Rootin' Tootin'.

Image
A Tandy Color cart + a TI-99/4A cart.

Image
Dragon Warrior II & IV. I now own every Dragon Quest/Warrior game in its original format.

Image
Bahamut Lagoon was a gift from my wife. The three (Western) SNES RPGs were purchased from a member here.

Image
Some decent handheld titles - more gifts from the wife.

Image
I walked into the local video game shop the other day and couldn't believe my eyes - Master System games! I picked up seven.

Image
A couple of decent JRPGs for Sega consoles.

Image
Two Sega CD games. One of these was slightly more expensive than the other...

Image
I love the TurboGrafx-16. Slowly trying to build that collection.

Image
And finally, some cheap PC games from the local Goodwill.

I recommend a european 7800 controller if you're getting into the 7800. The US controller is awful, but the European pad is pretty nifty.

I haven't actually bought this yet, but I will next time I go down to Wilsonville (which should be soon). It totally wasn't on my radar, but people here were like :O about it, so I checked out Fortune Street from my library ... and that game is damn fun! I love how the core method of winning is insider trading. That's kind of hilarious, actually.

Outside of weird scan options, I thought it was pretty great, so I'm definitely picking up the game next time I hit Fry's ... namely because it's $15 new there. (FYI, they also have Rhythm Heaven Fever for Wii for $10. And Starfy on DS for $15) Chances are the prices are honored online too.

So, thanks Racketeers, I definitely wouldn't have even considered this if people didn't bring it up.

The first time I played an Atari 7800, it had those EU controllers hooked up. For years I assumed that was the default. Imagine my disappointment when I realized it wasn't.

The ones that look like actual controllers rather than joysticks:

They will change your world.

I had a 7800 instead on an NES as a kid (maybe that's why I'm a grumpy twat all the time?), and I suffered with the US sticks for almost two decades before picking up the EU ones. Shortly after getting those I started seeking out more 7800 games and am now working on a complete set. Be wary the power of the Atari gamepad.

The Sega Genesis controller works with the 7800 as well, yes?
