What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I get that movies will be different from the source material. That's fine, I accept that. That alone doesn't dictate bad or good with movies. I think that the complaints in this case are valid though because the Mandarin is literally a completely different character in everything but name. It's totally fair to be disappointed with that if you like the Mandarin and had (reasonable) hope that this movie was going to have a good take on the character.

I thought O-Pac was being sarcastic.
Sure there's plenty of disappointment to be had, but it's not like we haven't seen great movie adaptions of villains.

I wasn't disappointed a bit, nor was the audience I saw it with.

Which is why we can't have nice things

Really though, I'm not saying that it's a fundamentally disappointing character. If I had no investment in or hopes for the character I probably would have enjoyed it. I'm just disappointed that I got something completely out of the range of what I was reasonably hoping for.

Waaah waaah waaah.

Let's talk about the way that the I Robot movie shits all over Isaac's grave shall we? :P

Note I have read the book, which is a collection of short stories, but not seen the movie because it has so little to do with it I have no desire to see it.

In the comics, yes. In the movie, yes, but in a different way.

Darth Vader wasn't a comic book character made into a movie character.

I have no clue why you could be upset at a movie based on a comic book, that switched it up and surprised the audience.[/quote]

Who cares if the source material is from a comic? So because it's from a comic rather than somewhere else, the characters somehow mean less? Characters that have endured for well over 40 years?

Then let's not say Darth Vader. What if Voldermort or Saruman was made into some useless drunks? Would you enjoy that?
