Re: CRT best connections for all retro
Slow down on the all-caps. Anyway, a SCART to component converter is a box that converts RGB signals into component video. Basically you plug a SCART cable that uses the RGB signals from the consoles I listed, and out comes component video. It's far better than composite and S-video, no color bleeding, dot crawl or any other nasty artifacts. The only downside is that the converter does not pass through audio, so you'll either need to mod the converter with audio cables or jacks, or get a SCART cable with the audio split off into separate wires. You'll find everything you need on eBay.alexretro wrote:YOU LOST ME ON THIS: "SCART to component converter" what is that exactly and can my tv work with that?

You could also pick this up, which is a SCART passthrough and has audio jacks: http://tinyurl.com/cyg3hnn

i noticed they say UK pal snes. will this work on my USA snes? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Nintendo- ... 232a4b73a2ApolloBoy wrote:You could also pick this up, which is a SCART passthrough and has audio jacks: http://tinyurl.com/cyg3hnn
or this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/AV-SCART-CABLE- ... 3cce5a4b14
Re: CRT best connections for all retro
You don't want either of those as they'll produce a dark image. Instead you need to look for PAL GameCube SCART cables, and of course you need to make sure to get one with RGB as opposed to one that just carries composite.alexretro wrote:i noticed they say UK pal snes. will this work on my USA snes? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Nintendo- ... 232a4b73a2ApolloBoy wrote:You could also pick this up, which is a SCART passthrough and has audio jacks: http://tinyurl.com/cyg3hnn

RGB Scart is a dangerous rabbit hole that'll have you hemorrhaging money like you wouldn't believe. ...and you'll love spending all that money.
