^Nailed it.

I've seen a few of the Rifftrax, and sure Mike Nelson is great and all, but it's just not the same...

Also, for anyone unaware:
if you happen to own a modded Wii, and install WiiMC you can hit up the ShoutCAST TV section where there is a 24/7 MST3K channel :!: It's not always the greatest quality (essentially streaming VHS bootlegs), but it's bliss. (Especially now since Netflix dumped MST3K from it's Instant Queue)

I loved how even as a 13 or so year old kid, I noticed that Bucky O'Hare wasn't your run-of-the-mill cartoon. The gorilla dies at the beginning, but they say he 'became one with the universe'. THE GUY DIED.

In a cartoon show! I just liked how it was goofy because of the Toads and all of the in-jokes and puns, but within the show's universe it was like REAL SHIT was happening. Violent stuff. Planet Warren is destroyed, etc.
You know there's like, a hundred other kids show where characters die, right?

Name ONE other where there's a four armed duck named Deadeye.

It would be fun to see the Vampire: The Masquerade TV show rebooted so it actually has something to do with Vampire: The Masquerade.

Just a reminder: Followups, sequels, prequels, etc are NOT reboots. If it was, I'd go on about my plans for followups to Hey Arnold, Doug, Queer as Folk, Batman Beyond (a primetime drama tied into the new comics), possibly Jem (and only then just a short-lived series that essentially serves as a proper ending to the series), Invader Zim, 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd, VR Troopers (though I plan on doing that with my reboot concept) and so on.

As a more serious sci-fi drama, possibly on the CW.

It'd be basically the same formula, albeit retooled for a teen audience.

Image

Expand the series to an hour-long timeslot featuring three stories, each told by a different host, which would be The Cryptkeeper and the other two hosts from the comics, The Vaultkeeper and The Old Witch.

It'd make more sense now than it did over 10 years ago. For one, it was during the '70s nostalgia boom. For another, it was associated and compared to That '70s Show.

But since '80s nostalgia is big now, it could very well potentially fare much better.

Just work on what made the original version less than perfect and how That '70s Show approached the time period it was set in.

Yeah, I know. but the conversation steered in that direction, and it's fun to talk about shows that need new episodes.
let's face it, too often reboots should have left well enough alone.

besides, this thread was dead on page one:

That show... god dammit I wish I wasn't so late to the party. The Mighty Boosh was AH-MAY-ZING. I friggin' LOVE THAT SHOW. I didn't know about it until sometime last year.

Also, if we're talking about shows that need more episodes now too...(and speaking of the Boosh)

I have not seen that.. I'll definitely check it out!

Speaking of the IT Crowd - a 45 minute series finale is happening. Apparently either started filming, or will start filming soon. Berry, O'Dowd, Ayoade and Parkinson all had busy scheds, but its finally gonna happen!
