What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

If anything, you are late to the party. I have not been impressed by a super hero movie since "The Dark Knight"...

(That said...I still have not seen The Avengers. Based on the discussion on this forum, however, it will have to permanently transform my life to live up to the hype...)

Gripes/Praise: Wish they had added a little more of the office scenes to it the humor is what made it great. Especially loved moments like the speaker phone scene and the betting.

Gripe: They should have included more than just zombies for the first half of the movie. Zombies are okay but pretty damn cliche and boring. Damn it he had the conch shell in his hands lol. Also I knew a monster mash up was coming by the end but it would have been awesome to see it happen earlier with the woods or cabin.

Gripe: The deaths weren't very well laid out and were very predictable coming 1 at a time.

Gripe/Praise: The characters sucked for the most part. However the Fool was freaking amazing definitely the most memorable character of the movie he was "smart", a badass with the extendo bong, and extremely entertaining.

Praise: Sigourney Weaver popping up at the end was pretty epic. So your the one behind all this lol.
I agree with you on all points...Also, a few more gripes:
1. Why would they have a giant, red, "release all monsters at once" button? That seems like a very bad idea.

2. We never got to see the "sexy witches" listed on the whiteboard.

3. Sigourney Weaver's cameo, while good, was not as good as her cameo in Paul (2011). (Paul is nowhere near as good as The Cabin in the Woods, but I must admit that the Sigourney Weaver cameo in the film is vastly superior.)

I'm not late to the party, I've been here a while and am just recently starting to think about why. The only comic book film since TDK that I thought was worth seeing a second time or had something interesting to offer is TDKR. That said, in the span of 4-5 years or so before TDK, there were a lot of comic book/graphic novel films that i quite liked (Hellboy 1 and 2, Hulk, Sin City, V for Vendetta, Road to Perdition, Spider Man 2, etc.).

I didn't care much for Sin City, but besides that, I agree with you that all of those movies were more interesting than what we are seeing today. (Also, X2: X-Men United was great, and if we are discussing comic book movies - rather than super hero movies - then I must admit that I very much enjoyed Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.)

Personally, I think that comic book films have become such big business that studios are not willing to take risks with them anymore. (That is, if they play it safe, the downside risk is low and the upside potential is very high.) Accordingly, I don't think that they are taking risks with them anymore, and I think that is why we are seeing less interesting films that all follow the same basic story arc.

Dude it was awesome. Sean Connery needs to be a bad guy who controls the weather more often.

Oh and that scene where Thor hijacks a blimp that has pizza in the co-pilot's seat? Totally the best TMNT reference ever. Wasn't crazy about the after credits easter egg where the Scarlet Witch mumbles "No more Mutants", but whatever; we finally got to see the Black Panther and Storm get freaky.

So I have heard...but if it delivers anything less than the life-changing power of Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru (1952), then it will not satisfy my expectations.
