Voted for PS2, which I've never played, and Dragon Warrior III. I've played some of that on GBC and it is awesome.
I don't have a Genesis, so I'll be playing whatever we choose with Kega or my PSP. I don't mind that we're playing two games for the same console either. What does it matter?
About Lunar - I couldn't bring myself to play it again. Considering the 2008 Together Retro and my own selfish desires, I think it would be better to play Lunar 2. The combat and exploration in Lunar 1 was so boring though, I wouldn't mind much if Tales of Phantasia suddenly won in a landslide.

I'm surprised Phantasy Star II is leading. While I'm glad that I've played it, mostly because knowing the story added to my appreciation of PS IV, it's not something I ever want to revisit. I just remember LOTS AND LOTS OF HEAVY GRINDING.

@Phantasy Star II
If you just want to play the story, there's a fan patch that makes the game way easier. The author compares the new difficulty to that of Final Fantasy IV. Which version he's referring to is unclear, but even the "Hardtype" of FFIV was a walk in the park for me.
You could also import the PS2 Phantasy Star collection. It includes the first four PS games in Japanese and English and includes a difficulty slider for all four games!
I've heard PS2 is a challenging game and I'm attracted to that. No doubt I'll be crawling out of dungeons with one character alive and out of potions or whatever. If the battles themselves are interesting, I don't mind fighting a lot of them. Maybe they're boring, but I'd like to try that out.

Re: Together RPG - JRPG voting
This. I am glad to have played through it...but PSII is one of the most grind-heavy, cryptic, and archaic RPGs that I have ever completed. Accordingly, if we go with PSII, I advise everyone playing it to acquire a strategy guide. (If I recall correctly, they were packed in with the game; so, it not really cheating to reference it...)Nemoide wrote:I'm surprised Phantasy Star II is leading. Don't confuse "challenging" with "terribly balanced and who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have an overlay of piping in the dungeons?"Valkyrie-Favor wrote:I've heard PS2 is a challenging game and I'm attracted to that. Re: Together RPG - JRPG voting
Phantasy Star II and Lunar are neck and neck!
I'd be happy with either one.
If it ends up being Phantasy Star II, I'll probably end up playing it off of the same compilation disc that contains Shining Force II.

I'd be curious to know where those Lunar votes would have gone if it wasn't listed...BoneSnapDeez wrote:Phantasy Star II and Lunar are neck and neck!

Mine would have ended up going to Phantasy Star II actually, haha.dsheinem wrote:I'd be curious to know where those Lunar votes would have gone if it wasn't listed...BoneSnapDeez wrote:Phantasy Star II and Lunar are neck and neck!

Switched one of my votes from Chrono Trigger to PSII. I've played LUNAR way too much.
