A SCUMM game that I'm not familiar with?

Eye of the Beholder is a SCUMM game? I don't think so...you are referring to the D&D title, right?

I think he's just saying that he wants to play a SCUMM game he's not famliiar with, not that Eye of the Beholder is a SCUMM game.

if it helps you decide, I think there's a better argument to be made for Eye of the Beholder's place as a "classic" over Grandia 2 in terms of reception, influence, etc.

I never finish these with 10, so I'll just be doing 2.

I'll give you that. If I buy Eye today, what's the chance it will end up on your list?

...

More brainstormz:

Mickey Mania
Sonic 3D Blast

...maybe a nonLucas pointnclick?

High, I'd say. It would give me an excuse to fire up the CDX and/or I may play it on the PC and compare versions with you.

Mickey Mania
Sonic 3D Blast
That second one is definitely a no-go in my book...

Some thoughts on other lists:

Ack: Batman Returns, Donkey Kong Country, and Pilotwings will not disappoint you. They are some of the best the SNES has to offer. The gameplay in Super Adventure Island is a step down from Adventure Island II (NES) and Adventure Island III (NES), but the game is still fun and has arguably the best music on the SNES.

AppleQueso: Contra and Mega Man are two of my favorite NES games, and Lunar: The Silver Star is one of my favorite RPGs. I hope you place these on your list so that I can read your impressions.

Bone: Definitely play Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. They are the best portable Zelda games (and arguably the best Zelda games, period). Magician Lord is also a really fun game that you can play through fairly quickly if you credit feed.

DSH: Ys II and DuckTales are obvious choices. They are both a lot of fun, and you can play through both of them fairly quickly. The real challenge with DuckTales is getting enough money to earn the "best" ending. Chase HQ is also a good choice, but it is best played: (1) in an arcade; and (2) with two players. The game is meant to simulate an action movie in which one person is driving a car while the other fires a gun out the window, and the arcade version really nails it.

MrHealthy: SML2 is one of the best GameBoy games, and - unfortunately - the last 2D Mario platformer to try something out of the ordinary. I recommend it. Myst is a good adventure/slash puzzle game that is not terribly challenging. (The only things that stumped me were some of the mechanics. "Oh....I am supposed to hold the button down to turn the crank!") Finally, the GBA port of FFI is great. You should be able to play through the main quest relatively quickly, but it will take some time to get through the awesome extras.

Opa Opa: Shadowgate is the best of the Macventure games, and it remains one of my favorite adventure games. Likewise, RE2 is - in my opinion - the best "traditional" RE game, and Link's Awakening is only a slight step down from Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. You should definitely play all of those fantastic games.
