4/25 Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller: Episode 2 - The Wise Monkey (PC)
What an improvement over the first episode of this game! Puzzles made a lot more sense, I felt that the voice actors improved, except for Erica's dad, and the story was interesting. If you can make it through the first episode this game makes up for it and actually makes me interested in the 3 and 4 episodes coming up.

I can't help but notice a surprising lack of Saturn games on your list. WTF man?

Haha, you're right. I just don't have a good place to game on my Saturn right now. Maybe I should just run it to my HDTV even though it will look like ass.

19. Phantasy Star (Sega Master System) - 4/26/2013
Finally got around to experiencing where this series started. I was first introduced to Phantasy Star through PSO, which I believe was a great start. I decided I wanted to try and play through the 1st, 2nd, and 4th games. So here I am. I wasn't disappointed, though sometimes I had to rely on a guide because of the vagueness of some of the hints. This was a very well designed game, and I understand why it is a classic. I loved the dungeons, I loved the characters, and I loved fighting Dark Falz/Force! Oh and the soundtrack (which my fiancée is now sick of), gotta mention that! 10/10 for enjoyment, and an unforgettable RPG experience.

Don't you have S-Video cables? Those should at least look alright.
If you don't, are you kind of jealous that I do?

Oh my, it's been a long time since I was able to update this. It's not been a productive month for beating games.
HarmoKnight is a fun rhythm platformer game where you attack enemies and jump obsacles in time to the music. The music is catchy, but repeated way too often. Although it's divided up into themed worlds (for example, Marching Hills, Rock Range etc) but actually it generally doesn't mix things up much. The timing of the game is really finicky, and requires more accuracy with timing than a lot of other music games I've known, especially on the hard mode. There's a reasonable amount of content, and it tries to mix the gameplay up sometimes with call and response boss segments and some mildly different gameplay courtesy of some alternate characters, but to be honest it's at its best when it plays it straight and doesn't mix it up too much. Overall it's very enjoyable, but the price point is a bit painful - £13 for a downloadable rhythm game seems a lot. It does provide a respectable amount of content for a rhythm game though, so it definitely gets a recommendation from me.
Liberation Maiden is an interesting flight combat game where you play as the teenage schoolgirl of New Japan taking out the armys of the evil dominion nation in your motorbike mecha robot thing. It's very Japanese. It was also made by Suda 51, but it's very by the numbers for one of his games - it does what it says on the tin, no bizarre story twists or surreal characters or anything. It also is quite obviously not finished - obviously as a small project for Guild 01 I wasn't expecting a 20 hour masterpiece, but it definitely seems like he wants to do more with this - the full game introduces an awful lot of concepts considering it's under two hours long, and to be honest it feels like a demo - the ending is even a bloody cliffhanger! It controls well enough although it can be a little clunky with the strafing, and it needs a bit more diversity in enemy weapons - it's generally always missiles being shot at you. The bosses are impressive enough, but not that hard, and the game is only 5 levels long, the last of which is the 'final' boss. There are 3 difficulty levels and a bunch of achievements to unlock storyline details, music and artwork, but it's all over too quickly. It's worth a try, but £7.19 seems an awful lot. I'm glad I only paid £4.50, and even that seems a bit high.
Next Up: Fire Emblem Awakening, Patchwork Heroes, Wild Arms, Crimson Shroud. Not necessarily in that order. Fire Emblem and hopefully Patchwork Heroes I hop to beat before May. The other two I intend to shoot through before starting on my games for the Summer.
