I usually just use my old refurbished 30 gig zune whenever I feel like listening to music. Was lucky enough to nab it for $50 years ago and the thing is tanky enough that it will probably outlive me lol.

There are a variety of reasons I dont use my gaming devices to listen to music:
1. It uses up memory which I prefer to reserve for game saves and downloads.
2. It drains the battery which is a pain if you don't carry your charger with you and are out and about for a considerable amount of time.
3. The music menu interfaces on some devices are not very well laid out in my opinion.
4. Plus one handed operation wasn't in mind with most game systems :P.

If I used one it'd probably be the Vita, but it's so big. I use my iPhone 5.

I have TRIED using a DS before, but the sound quality is awful.

Those Sansas Vince mentioned are freaking awesome. Cheap, tiny, long battery life, and supported by Rockbox. Real shame it has a proprietary connector, but I guess the newer versions have microUSB.

My handhelds stay at home unless we are going somewhere for an extended time. My smartphone is my handheld now, so technically yes.

I have such a large library of music, it's my iPod Classic or nothing. Do any companies that make MP3 players, make one with enough storage like the Classic? Last I looked I saw none. But I have used my PSP when I was in between iPods. But when I travel I usually have my iPod and a handheld together. I just got a 3DS XL so that's gonna be my handheld of choice for awhile :D

Biggest on the market. Ive looked for one of my reps for a TB one, but they do not exist. I cannot find anything bigger than that 500GB one.
