Like ... me? I have to admit that I just recently started to collect shooters, and since most of them are horizontal (R-Type. G.Darius) I voted for them. Funnily enough, it was a vertical shooter (Solar Striker) that started my interest in the genre ...

It is a toss up for me. there are so many great titles in both categories. i probaby play more horis cause i am usually rocking the genesis and snes titles. thunderforce series, gaiares, darius series, r-type, lots of great stuff

Love both but I give the slight edge to vert shooters.

it's not vertical or horizontal, it's the game and how well it plays. I love both but I play better on horizontal than vertical.

I originally thought this was some joystick debate - id never heard of vert thou lol

for me I think that I just about prefer vertical, there's something more immediately dramatic and tense about the enemies coming from the top of the screen that grabs me more...
