Personally, I despise spoilers. I avoid trailers, teasers and articles for most movies and games. There are a couple of people I refuse to talk to about movies I haven't seen yet, because they keep insisting they aren't going to spoil anything and then throw out that "It has a sad ending" mentioned in this thread.

Although it won't keep me from playing the game or watching the movie, for me it takes away some of the enjoyment. I'm not saying it RUINS the movie/game (depending on the spoiler), but at time it takes some of the enjoyment out of it for me.
That's all fine and dandy, but you still can't expect people on the internet to not spoil something just because it makes you, personally, uncomfortable. That's my problem with OP and Gameforlife. We shouldn't be censored because other people have a weird relationship with the text.

Cool, just adding my opinion to the thread.
I'm slightly on their side about this, but then again I wanna say "If you don't want spoilers, don't read the articles". Simply looking at scores and reading brief snippets of info is enough for me. I usually don't mind watching interviews with the creators of a game, because don't tend to have spoilers even when questioned about them.
However, I do think it's polite to at least tag articles that have spoilers in them.

I dunno...... I feel like there's a statute of limitations on certain things. I certainly don't get upset if someone spoils a game that was released 20 years ago.

After reading this thread, all I could think of was this.

I say people who don't warn about spoilers are dicks. Sometimes they don't know they are being dicks, so a simple *Dude, Spoiler Tags Please* usually works for future posts. But I'm not surprised when someone does spoil key points in any medium.

Everyone raging about the Mass Effect 3 ending pissed me off. Yes, you have the right to complain about it, but please don't spoil it in the article.
Fortunately, I hadn't heard of the indoctrination theory prior to beating the game. Completely blew my mind, and gave me a whole new insight on what the ending actually is. There is so much evidence supporting it that it's almost completely undeniable. Beat the game before you look it up.

It's a reference to Obi-wan in episodeVI.

I don't really see how a plot spoiler can ruin a game. If the gameplay is fun, the game will still be fun, spoiled or not. Yes, I know the princess isn't really in the castle. That doesn't mean it's not fun to play through.

The only exceptions I can think of are for adventure games, where the plot *is* the gameplay. But "spoilers" are slightly different there. If someone tells you the solution to the goat puzzle in Broken Sword, that puzzle is ruined for you. But the solution to that puzzle doesn't have any bearing on the overall plot. On the other hand if someone spoils the overall plot, that doesn't ruin the fun in figuring the puzzles on the way to the ending. So spoilers are still not a huge deal.

All that said, spoiler warnings are just polite.

I played the game when it first came out and I wonder how I came upon the answer to it. I know I didn't cheat.
