Turning Metroid 3D might not have necessarily been risky, but handing it over to a western developer certainly rose a lot of eyebrows.

And either way, I remember a lot of fans being really pissed off about it.

Until it came out and they played it, but still.

My unpopular gaming opinions:

-Metal Gear Solid games are crap
-Splinter Cell: Conviction is one of the best Xbox 360 games.
-Handheld consoles (and games) are way too expensive.
-Even though I loved the Mega Drive and Dreamcast, I've never found the appeal with the Sega Saturn.
-Sonic Adventure was absolute dog shit.
-I've never understood the big deal with the Halo and Half-Life series.
-The best wrestling games are on PS2, not N64.
Currently playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Reminds me of one of my unpopular opinions:
- Here Comes the Pain is overrated as hell. It's not even the best PS2 wrestling game, let alone the best WWE wrestling game. It's worse than Raw vs Smackdown 2006 for one thing. All it did was start fixing some of the issues the Smackdown series had had or years and still failed to match the quality of No Mercy, a game that had come out years previously.

Again, because people on a retro gaming site never actually play old games, we only remember them.

Everything is just "nostalgia goggles"

Again, I'm not refering to people on this forum, but rather to a much larger group of people.

That only applies to the Nintendo 64 fanbase  All other fanboys, especially Dreamcast, are completely unbiased and truthful.

It's so nice to see all this Gamecube love lately. It's such an underrated system. One game nobody mentioned yet is Pokemon Collosseum. Ever since Red came out, I was hoping for a console installment that had something to do with the main series and Collosseum delivered in a big way. Sadly, I have yet to play Gale Of Darkness, but it's been on my list for a long time.

Then there's Naruto: Clash Of Ninja. Even if you've never seen the show, it's a fantastic fighting game that's easily the equal of Smash Bros. Melee.

Even some multiplatform games like One Piece: Pirate's Carnival, Pac-Man World 2 and Sonic Heroes seemed better on the Cube than the other systems.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

I didn't own a N64 until 2010. I'm not wearing any nostalgia goggles over here. A nostalgia thong maybe. But not goggles.

What's the best version of that game?

I've only played them for their original system, but the PS1 version of MotBQ is supposedly the best. It's Japanese only, though. Both OB and OB64 are on the Virtual Console, which makes them available, I suppose.

There is an english version of motbq on ps1. It rins around 45-50. I think the sound is a bit better but there are load times. The Saturn version is jpn only.

The Wii VC of the Snes version is probably the best.
