Emulators are for those who lack the funds and space to run the original hardware. Of course, I say that as someone who bought all my retro game systems brand new and kept them nice.

As opposed to the "wonderful" 3D of games such as Daytona USA for the Saturn?

Repeating arguments of the masses... check out Powerslave, Quake, Alien Trilogy, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Nights, & Burning Rangers.

Don't mistake difficult to program for as sub par 3D capabilities. Daytona was rushed for launch, so was VF. Also the SS came out 1 yr 8 months before the N64. A lot of time in the tech industry.

The point isn't that the Saturn's 3D looks bad, it's that it doesn't look any better than what the N64 does.

The Saturn was designed more to be a 2D powerhouse, something at which it succeeds. That it can do as much as it can in 3D is a testament to Sega's engineers, bolting in what 3D they could as well as they did at the last minute under threat of the PS1's purported 3D capabilities.

I wasn't talking about graphics, I was talking about gameplay. Graphics will inevitably become outdated over time, gameplay won't if the game is well designed.

Whatever edge N64 had in it's 3D capabilities is quite meaningless as PC games of that era were miles better in the FPS department. And due to the limitations of cartridges, it didn't really matter since more memory (CD)+better sound quality>better specs (PS1 got all the RPGs, PS1 got Resident Evil 2 1½ years before N64 etc). N64 did have the superioir wrestling and sports games though. N64 did have the Expansion Pak, but the Dreamcast came out a year after.

Anyways Saturn was a 2D powerhouse, every one knows that. +this

My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Gamecube was the only console I had for the bulk of that generation. It sucked.

...I mean only having a Gamecube sucked. Console itself was fine and I played lots of enjoyable games on it, but the sheer amount of stuff I knew I was missing out on (thanks to friends who had different consoles) drove me nuts.

Gamecube will always have my love if only for Luigi's Mansion. That game alone is reason enough to own the console in my eyes.

Not to say there aren't other games for it I love, I'm just stating my unbeatable favorite.

I looked up the Jaguar pro controller, there's one listing on ebay for 100 bucks. :(

Its in great shape, but man that price hurts...
