Nah, I've only picked up an extra console if the price was right. Then, if I do--it's only to gift it to a friend or family member.

If I see a system for a good price, I'll buy it. I have multiples of several systems.

Nope. However, I have accrued many redundant systems over the years in one way or another - a boxed one to go along with my unboxed one or purchased as part of a larger pack of games that I wanted. Stuff like that. I also buy different models of the same machine, but never the exact same machine. I won't go and buy another top loader NES just because it's for sale and cheap, for example.

I own many systems, but I don't own 2 of any of the same system. I see no reason for that unless it adds some new functionality, like a Game Boy Color vs. an Original Game Boy.

Sure, I hoard everything...

Having doubles (or more) of a certain console also gives you the opportunity to make your own LAN...

Now this is something I actually will do. I've been meaning to pick up a second jaguar to try out the LAN features in games like Doom. When I eventually pick up Battlesphere Gold, I'll likely do this as that's a high dollar game.

This.

Seriously, though, I don't do it intentionally. At some point over the years I've just miraculously managed to acquire:

3 SNES (2 original, 1 mini)
2 phat PS2s
2 N46s
3 Game Boys (2 originals, 1 Black Play it Loud)
and
2 GBA SPs (silver and red)

I'm still planning on getting rid of the spare N64 (I swear!). And the only reason I have the extra PS2 is because I fear that the one I'm using now is going to die. The second, original model SNES I keep for imports. It was only $2 and already beat up, so I figured, what were a few more missing pieces? As for the Game Boys....well, I guess one could argue that I was hoarding those. As an excuse, all I can say is, at least they're different colors.

I've been known to buy cheap consoles I already own and either flip 'em, trade 'em, or give them away.

I still wish I kept my spare top-loader though. JIC.
