How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I love my dreamcast. I bought a vga cord and the dreamcast arcade stick and all my fighting games are great on it. I need 20 or so more games. There are many ported titles but everytime someone comes over they freak out and wants to play the dreamcast and say that games like ready to rumble or crazy taxi just play better on dreamcast. Example: marvel vs capcom 1 and 2.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
I'm one of the more recent fans of the Dreamcast, having only had mine for about a year and a half now. And yet, it still amazes me that there's several games that can still be had new almost as cheaply as used. Dreamcasts themselves are $30-$40. Most games in general can be had for about $10, and that's if you want the case and manual with the game. The Dreamcast was definitely underappriciated in its time.
I don't actually have many games for mine, but out of the ones I do have:
Soul Calibur is my fav 3D fighter of all time, bar maybe DOA2. There's not much I can really critique about it; it just got it all right the first time. Even in 2013, it still looks and plays pretty damn good.
Crazy Taxi never gets old. It's one of those rare games that just seem to be fun incarnate. It's a guaranteed good time, outside of some occasional slowdown.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica is one of only two games I own where you have an actual "story", even when it's as cheesy as it is in CV. Still, it's tied my second favorite pre-RE4 Resident Evil with RE2, second only to the Gamecube remake of the first game.
Sega Rally and Daytona USA are the two "big" racers for the Dreamcast. The first is racing against the clock in order to get the best time. It looks good, it plays good, all the pieces just come together in this one. Daytona on the other hand is more of a traditional racer outside of the single race mode; you race against the cpu, blah blah blah... BUT, the thing that sets it apart are its track designs that, while mostly eye candy, do provide several memorable moments. Pity that the soundtrack volume was decreased though, because the music is so awful that it wraps around the world so that it becomes awesome.

This thread reminded me that I started Elemental Gimmick Gear, got stuck, and never went back to it. I guess it's time to start over on it. I did like it up until I got stuck.

Re: How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?
My Dreamcast is still connected to my tv along with a PS1 and i still often play it,the last game i played was Ferrari F335 challenge but i even though i prefer racing sims i find this unplayable
,so i have dug a DC Steering wheel out of storage and i am going to try playing the game again with the wheel.

been playing a lot more DC lately, discovering some of the games i never even knew existed for the system. Stupid Invaders is surprisingly fun, i didn't know there were any point-and-click adventure games for the system outside of ScummVM releases.

I've hardly ever played Power Stone 2 by myself, so I'm currently taking that up. I've had this game for two years and I haven't unlocked anything! Shameful.

While there are only 14 RPGs on the system, several are exclusives: Elemental Gimmick Gear, Silver (also on PC), Record of Loddos War.
Shenmue, Shenmue II, Skies, Evolution 1&2, PS Online 1& 2 are available elsewhere.
Can't think of others off hand if others are exclusive: Timestalker, Grandia II, Dragonriders of Pern, Sakura Wars 3.
