Modchip help

Post by John845 »

When attempting the a&b method I accidently cut the signal cable off. :x Did I just ruin the modchip by doing this?

Edit: I read the guide and it states that it doesn't affect the chip if you are trying a&b.

Another question.

I have a model 2 32 pin Saturn. I placed solder in between a and b, connected everything. The power wire I jammed into the power slot. The system boots up but the usual Saturn logo that appears with the sounds and moving background doesn't show. It simply shows a static 2d image of the logo and goes to the main menu area. When it reaches the main menu it says checking disc and the cd drive doesn't sound like its moving. I put in both real game and a backup and both won't boot.

After trying for a bit I removed the chip and tried the Saturn with everything default. It booted up normally and everything worked fine, the real game booted all the way. Now tomorrow I'm actually going to try soldering into the power supply area, hopefully I don't destroy my Saturn by doing this.

Yeah, you're probably going to need to solder the power cable.
My best advise is just don't let solder drip all over the place :)

On the power unit slot. Which side should I solder into? There is two sides to it. Or do I just solder into the middle part? Does it even matter?

Sorry for double posting but I got another question before I solder into the power unit. When putting solder between the A and B area on the modchip I accidently got a big gunk of solder onto it instead of a small bit. It did cover both the A and B area but it got onto the little 5v area as well, on the top left of the chip. Will this affect the chip at all? Will I need to remove the solder and do this again?

Someone let me know please, I want to know if the chip is affected before I solder onto my system. This is turning out harder than I thought. :(

Ok, I've tried everything. Tried the A & B, tried the 14th pin, nothing works. :x

Racket I'm sorry, but I need to talk to you about a refund or a replacement.
